Finished the roof painting with a bright green. Don't know if I'm happy with the color, but, I can change that pretty easy.

I hooked up my lawn mower U1 battery to test the cabin and porch lights. I don't have my deep cycle yet. I'll wait until spring to pick one up. Everything working fine, or so I thought. I left the battery hooked up over night and was surprised to find it dead in the morning. Thankfully I didn't kill the battery and it has all good cells after a charge and rest. I found the source of the battery drain overnight. I must be living right as I found my galley light wiring, which is still just a hot and negative wire going into the hatch, stripped and wrapped together from when I threaded it through the galley access point below the hinge. Whew! I don't know why it didn't overheat and either pop a fuse (3a) or worse, start a fire. I really dodged a bullet there. Battery still OK and no damage.

Installing my hatch hinge (living hinge) tomorrow if the temperatures warm a bit. I'll snap some photos if all goes well. Lots of little tasks to do still... hatch latches, all weatherstrip, wedges for Wiley windows, tongue box build, fenders (build or buy), etc. I know that isn't all. I've heard folks say their builds are never done! I just wish I had some nice weather to go on a couple test camping. That's doubtful. Snow on Wednesday already. It didn't stick, but, that's coming soon.

Lots of work to go on this. I don't have a winter inside work area, so, progress will slow to a crawl for a while. I will work this winter on my tongue box (similar in design to the rest of the body), fenders, hatch supports, some lower trim, etc. The weatherstrip will wait until spring. Thanks for all the suggestions and such. I will keep my eye on T&TTT to see how other's projects are coming along.

So, it's been a long winter and I am beginning to think about getting started finishing up this project. I have repainting the TD and tongue box (I have grown to dislike the bright green), fenders to install, tongue box to install, weatherstripping to install, some minor wiring finishing touches, install a battery, get a hitch put on our "newer" PV (that's this weekend) and a few other little projects including outfitting the TD with camping necessities. I am curious what this thing will weight. My best guess is around 1500 #, but, I just don't know. I have a local scale that will allow me to weigh it as long as I stay out of paying customer's ways.

I am thinking of just attaching the fenders to some strong trim (Doug Fir) attached to the TD sides. I don't know if I really need to put in metal brackets. The fenders are 13" steel from etrailer which I have primed and painted. What do you all think? Anybody just bolt their fenders along the inside edge to the body successfully? Referencing last fall's photo of the fenderless TD (above), I was thinking of maybe a couple of through bolts on the 2x2 steel frame (black horizontal area below the wood siding) and then the top would just be attached to the body. There is solid wood designed into the wall all through the area I am thinking of bolting it to. The only addition would be a trim board to hide the frame underneath and to act as a shim to bring the mounting point out from the body about 3/4" to 1".

My first go at camping with my TD. It was comfortable and cozy in a positive way! Making lists of items to stock and missing things such as a dish towel hanger and clothes hook inside. I just realized I haven't posted any "finished" photos. I'll have to get on that tomorrow...

It was a beautiful evening at a beautiful secret camping spot in da UP

Yeah, that's what I was shooting for. I'm gonna live with this for this season. Maybe do a repaint next spring.

Mid-summer at 12 Mile Beach in the Pictured rocks National Seashore, west of Grand Marais, MI. First real camping trip. Beautiful spot on the water. Blueberries at their peak everywhere. Life is Grand!

And finally, some "finished" photos of the TD in the yard. My screen tent tested for space inside. I've altered the screen tent since this photo to straddle the tongue between the TD and tongue box. Gained about 18" in the galley area and the cabin doors still open with full access.

Very nice build! I don't have the patience to build with that detail. Just out of curiosity, how much do you think it cost to build your camper if you don't mind my asking?

I am looking at having close to $3500 in mine by the time I am done and was just wondering if that was normal? I keep finding places where I say "it is just an extra $20 or extra $50." Those are starting to add up too. LOL.
Naw Bro, We ain't lost. We just ain't never been here before!
