I finally finished editing Episode 4 of my video series on Youtube. Whoever said that putting together videos for Youtube is easy was lying. :? It is tough editing hours of video down to a length where the audience isn't totally bored. Have a look.

Episode 5 is up on the YouTube. I added all of the supports to the unsupported seams, installed the window frames, and added some internal blocking for the overhead cabinets and the slide out retention system. I also picked up some more luan so I could finish the roof. My local supplier was out so I decided to venture to Home Depot. I was very happy with their luan. It is finished better than what I bought previously and I really like whatever wood is on the outside. It has a lot of character and will look great once it is stained and finished.

Time to start playing with foam.... I built a quick form so I could force the foam over it while applying heat. I bent up a couple 4" wide pieces and it took a while. Doing a full 22" wide piece is really not going to work well. I am going to try my bbq finishing oven that I built if it is big enough.

Here is where I am at

So I added both curved foam pieces to the corners in the rear overhang and glued them in with PL300 Foamboard adhesive and added the inner luan all the way around. Of course the luan was attached to the wood portions in the typical manner, wood glue and brads. I have used over 3000 1" brads so far, as well as 1000 5/8 and about 600 1 1/4" ones. Just this little bit of work inside has increased the rigidity tremendously.

New video is up on the DaddyJeep Garage channel. We cover our slide out retention system, some more internal blocking, and some heat forming of the foam.

Here it is guys..... the long anticipated (at least by me) video all about heat forming XPS foam. Some challenges along the way, but it all worked out in the end.

I got all of the insulation finished up over the weekend. Now on to getting all of the wiring into the walls before I start skinning the inside.

I have finally started working on the camper again after a month or so of other priorities. I am behind schedule and am trying to push to get it functional real soon. I have a lot of work to do. I have the bathroom walls mostly done and realized that My switch panel is way thicker than my walls. I started building an enclosure for it that I am real excited about. It will be some live edge apple wood.

I will have a new video up soon and will share some more pics as well.

Guess who is back and working on his camper again.... Any guesses? Ok I'll just tell you. It's me.

After almost a year of working on everything but my camper it is time to put all my efforts towards getting this thing done, well most of my efforts anyway. It has been decided that the slide out is not the right way to go. As cool as it would have been there were just too many negatives to outweigh the positives. I went ahead and cut the back wall out of the slide out and permanently attached it to the back of the camper. The only thing that I am losing by doing this is my kitchen counter and lower cabinets. I will now just use my folding kitchen table with sink on the deck if the trailer under the awning.

168601

Once I built some additional blocking to get this firmly attached I went ahead and glued and nailed a few pieces of luan to the wall.

168602168603

I suppose I haven't shared any pics of the bathroom walls and I eventually will, but I don't haver any at the moment. I needed to get these in to raise the center of the roof a bit as it was sagging a little. Now that it is all closed up it is time to start working on prepping the surface for PMF. I took the router to all of the edges around the rear to break all of the sharp edges. Then it was time for body work... oh joy. My shoulders are certainly feeling it from sanding. Most of the work will be in the front corners. One side is pretty close.

168605

I also cut in a window for the bathroom. I thought some natural light might be nice in that tiny box.

168604

I have a bunch more sanding to do and hope to have all of the prep work done by next weekend so I can start PMF. I have the canvas pre washed and have all of my glue and paint to get it done.

I give up.... no more sanding. I went through more that 2 gallons of bondo. Most of it is now covering my entire shop in a thin coat of dust. It is time to clean everything up and start the PMF.

First surface, or 5, is now covered in PMF. It was certainly a learning experience, but I am very happy with the result. I rolled on the 50/50 mixture of Titebond III and water and then clamped and stapled the heavy canvas in place. I used another roller that was just wet with water to work the canvas into the surface. It was a bunch of work to get the inside corners nice and tight. After it dried I found a couple small bubbles that I made a small slice in and worked some more glue in behind them. I just have the sides, front, and top to do.
