Teardrop Offroad Remodel

Postby fornesto » Tue Nov 13, 2018 1:45 pm

I am undertaking a pretty comprehensive remodel of the TD that I originally built in 2003. It was getting a little worn out and had been through many family camping adventures. I am moving towards a more off road capable and styled trailer. Now that we have LEDs and Amazon, there is a whole new world available. For now, I'm looking at doing the following:

1. Replace rear Model A-style brake lights with flush mount truck style LED units.
2. Replace original 5.30x12 tires/wheels with new 205/75/D15s on 15" black wheels.
3. Replace stock fenders with Jeep-style flat fenders.
4. Replace marker and clearance lights with new flush-mount LED lights.
5. Restyle interior with a mild National Parks/Adirondacks theme.
6. Complete new kitchen (tbd)
7. New exterior LED light bar and flood lights.
8. New color scheme - Aluminum w/ Satin or Matte Black with tan interior.
9. New outdoor carpet walls in tan.
10. All new wiring.
11. Tongue Box.
12. Fixing bear-damaged window

Project goal: Simple, basic, functional with nice finishes, efficient systems, and durability.

The basic box will stay the same (54" wide x 120" long).

I'm sure more will come. Here's the design so far.

For clearance lights I prefer these if your build can use a 3/4" mounting hole. These little lights are bright and just about disappear into the body lines.

I have used that company for all my LED's. Only had one light that had a few led's die after 10 years of use. The little ones I posted have only got 5 years on them. No issues..

I am planning on using the 3/4" clearance lights. I have them on the workbench ready to be installed.
