A piece of my brain just went "if you cut off the galley you won't use you can get bunks and a queen without being absurdly big."

I dig it.

Looking good! You are right, are builds are similar. I also used por15 on the frame. It was alot of extra work prepping the metal, but it looks like a brand new frame now. like the color, I just went with regular black. I also have bunks in the front. Can't wait to see our builds progress, assuming we can still afford lumber... :?

Plugging away. Son and I got the outside of the side walls glued and screwed today.

Finalizing the plan for the rest of the internal framing. So afraid I'm forgetting blocking for a cabinet, switch, light, etc.

Won't have much progress to post in next few weeks, family stuff going on. The beach place we had planned for spring break last year allowed us to cancel and reschedule in 2021. Boys are out of school, so Gulf Shores, here we come!

Nice, I like the profile.
In my (limited) experience it helps to wait with installing the outer skins until the whole thing is put together and you can figure out a little better where to put switches etc. Despite having a lot (way too much) plywood in my cutout, I still ended up with voids in exactly the places I later wanted a porch light and some switches :).

But of course then you need to deal with finishing vertical surface

Bartek,

That's exactly the tradeoff I've been mulling over!

I vote for finishing as much of the wall off as possible while on the bench. Both sides sheathed, doors fitted (if building your own), and the interior varnished.

X2 as Tony says. Much easier to work horizontal on a table.
Lots of details to work out on the fly.
But that's the fun part.

Been busy with work and oldest boy's high school soccer, but we finally got the sides framed in! I chickened out and bought a door, so I had to wait for that to come in before I could tackle this step. Eventually I'm going to have to face the fact that the trailer won't go out of my garage door when the frame is on the floor. We have been planning a pole barn, but with construction material prices what they are, I think if we build it this year, we'll pay almost twice as much. I've been looking online at portable carports, but haven't pulled the trigger on it yet.

Cool! Great to see it taking shape.
I wonder if you can just cover the build with a tarp or something - of course it means you can't work on it when it rains, but then on those days there is plenty of small elements (cabinets, hatch, ...) to work on in the garage.

I just built a 2x4 frame with casters for mine so I can roll it around the shop. I'm mounting mine on a deck over trailer so it will get pretty hard to work on once mounted.

Took advantage of calm winds today to temporarily put side frames and part of front wall onto trailer to get idea how it will look and make sure measurements for the rest of the walls. Slowly making progress. Between work and kids' activities it is hard to steal some time for the shop! Soccer season is over and now we're on to tennis. Oldest won his first match yesterday (JV singles) and I was able to get there to watch, so that was a very nice way to end the week.

It's been a month, thought I'd post a pic from today. I took a couple of days off work and am blessed with great weather for working outside. Got the inside skins on all the walls, not all of them up in this photo, obviously! Still a long way to go, but I can begin to envision what it will look like!

Painted the interior this weekend. This is the view looking in the rear window.

Slowly but surely! I'm going to lay the vinyl floor soon, but need to bolt the wood to the metal frame. The holes are drilled, but I'm trying to decide if I squirt epoxy or PL-3 in the holes before the bolts. I'm tempted to put masking tape over the bottom of the hole and then fill with epoxy for a while to allow to soak into the wood before removing tape and putting nut on bottom of bolt. I'm going to use epoxy over the bolt heads to level the floor. Thoughts?
