Our first trip is in one week so I’ve been grinding away and slacking on the updates lately. I spent this week sealing/skinning/trimming the hatch and completing the interior headboard. Tonight my wife and I installed the hatch for the final time and I couldn’t be happier with the fit and the seal. I have some minor tweaks to make to the corners of the T-molding but ultimately all the nights spent fretting the final fit of the hatch were unwarranted. Tomorrow the trim around the trailer goes on and I’ll clean up all the squeezed out butyl tape. Once that’s done I’ll seal all the leading edges of the trim with Trem-pro and trailer should finally be weather tight! My last week of build time will be spent getting the galley as far along as possible.

Spent the rest of the night installing the accent lights in the headboard and the reading lights. I didn’t pre-wire the wall so I built a mount/wire chase for the reading lights from some scrap 3/4” Baltic Birch. This allows me to access the wiring if I should ever need to.

All I can say is wow Cody!
You two have done a great job on this build. Funny, I used to have a large passenger fishing business. I always tried to have a date I had to get a boat off the Ways in the boatyard and back in the water to run a charter trip. Watching your build progress I thought what a great incentive your upcoming trip presented. Well done!

It's looking awesome Cody. You've got a lot to be proud of.

The LED strip in the cabin is a really nice touch. You're making me wish I'd wired for one of those!

Thanks so much! There’s nothing like a deadline to increase your productivity! I will be glad to have two full weeks to enjoy using it rather than building it for a change.

Thanks Ron. The color changing LED’s are a fun way to spice up the build. I have one more strip to install in the cabin and one for the galley.

Thanks Garth! I have spent more time than I care to admit gawking at the trailer rather than building lol. I used the LED strip lights in my ice fishing trailer and loved the effect they created so I knew I wanted to incorporate them into my build very early on. I’ll have a set under the interior cabinets and one behind the hatch spar rail in the galley as well.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the progress and paint color on your build!

I built a mount/wire chase for the reading lights...

What a great solution--one of many with this superb build. I'm anxious to see her parked in a fine camp setting.

You'll be busy showing her off.

Hello. I’ve enjoyed watching your trailer build.
Your goose neck reading lights…,can I ask where you purchased them?
And any identifying specs?
Thanks

Hey John. I picked them up on Amazon. I pasted the link below. They are dimmable 12V reading lights. Each light has a 5V/2A USB charging station. The light themselves only have a 0.2A draw at 100% power. The switch is a touch on/off switch that I think makes them feel a little higher end.

Grinding away into the early hours of the morning…got a lot accomplished today. The latches for the hatch were installed today. I fabricated some strut mounts and installed the hardware and struts. I installed the shore power inlet and connected the 110V system to the PD4045. The cabin is complete with the exception of the cabinet doors which will get built when I get back from our maiden voyage. My wife installed marine mat in the cabin to hopefully help with air flow under the mattress. It’s an interesting product that I’m hoping helps keep moisture from the cabin out of the mattress. After the marine mat, we installed the foam mattress and my wife made up the bed. It’s really starting to feel like a nearly complete project. Lastly, I finalized all the interior and galley wiring with the exception of a single 110V outlet in the galley and a 12V outlet for our fridge. I built a little power center that will be flanked by two cabinets after our first trip.

Last few things on my checklist for this week:
-Install fenders
-Install laminate on countertop
-Build Fridge and Stove sliders
-Enjoy!

Scrap piece of the mat that went under our matress

Thank you for the follow up on the lights, Cody. I was looking at something similar on etrailer and will compare the 2.

Got the fenders mounted last night. The only exterior tasks remaining are to bolt down the tongue box and install trim along the bottom edge of the cabin. Very near the finish line for our maiden voyage.

Last night I glued the laminate down to my countertop. I took 10 minutes on my lunch break today to trim the excess with a flush trim bit router. I like the look of the vintage boomerang laminate.

Another late but productive night! I finally sorted out the galley storage and cabinetry. First I mounted the countertop and section dividers. I then cut and assembled the three sliding drawers. Finally, I mounted the slides and boxes. I would love to say that I planned ahead and measured exactly so that two water jugs would fit side by side but I’d be lying  That was a pleasant surprise once everything was assembled. I’ll make some nice false fronts and upper cabinets once we get back from our trip. I’m down to 3 nights before our trip and all that remains are a few straggling odds and ends. Boy am I tickled with how this thing has come together in the last two weeks.
