Honeymoon House Trailer

I'm working on building a teardrop based on the "Honeymoon House Trailer" article from a 1939 "Popular Homecraft" magazine. I originally found the plans about 18 years ago and just never got around to building it. I'm getting married in about a month and a half so I'm trying to get it together in time to take on our honeymoon. It's definitely going to be a challenge pulling it off but I'll give it my best. The goal is to build it as if it was built in the late 30's or early 40's. I'm trying my very best to use all materials that are correct for the era. So far it's just a frame. I keep telling my fiancee that if she doesn't want me out in the shop late working on it every night then we'll be sleeping on an air mattress on a flatbed trailer. Hopefully I can pull it off.

It's a steel frame. Mostly angle iron since square tubing was not available at that time. That's one of the few deviations I'm taking from the original plans.

Please excuse the huge mess in the background of the photos. The car in the background is a 1937 Buick that was my first car that I got when I was 15. Poor old girl hasn't seen the road in several years. Just needs some minor work done but I've been so busy it always seems to get put on the back burner. I do hope to tow the trailer with it one day though. As far a speed ratings on the wheels they should be fine at any speeds I'll be driving. The only thing that can be an issue with them is putting too much torque to the wheels on a hot rod or something. At the 1934 world's fair there was a display of a few Ford sedans hanging from one of these wheels so they're pretty sturdy.

Thanks for the answer regarding the wheels. I mistook them for new retro. They look great. I have an interest in one day going with spokes.
It would be great to see your build being pulled by your Buick one day. Love the suicide doors!

Made a makeshift rotisserie setup with some engine stands to make painting the frame easier. I also did some work laying out the framing for the walls but it got late before I was able to start cutting anything.
