A real addiction......

Ok, so I now the cargo conversion was supposed to my camper for life, but I "stumbled" across a vintage camper I had to have. I'm far enough with the conversion to camp, but the details still need to be finished up. I'm finding it hard to stay motivated to work on the conversion when I have this awesome vintage trailer just waiting to be redone. I don't think my wife will let me have anymore campers. Lol. Anyway, the vintage trailer is a '48 Mobilglide. They were only built '46-'48 I believe. I've ripped out the interior already. Here are
A few pics.

WT,

Got yourself a good project there.
Looks quite sound from the pictures.
Keep us up to speed as you progress with it.

Take it easy.

What a great little breadloaf style trailer !

It is remarkable that the body is so straight for its age.
I didn't notice any damage at all in the pics.

Keep us informed of your progress with it.

Thanks. This little guy is REALLY straight. I've taken all the interior out, and now I'm working on pulling the old floor the previous owners put in. It's a horrible fiberboard and is nailed down every 6 inches. Talk about slow, back breaking work.

WT,
That breadloaf trailer is really cool! I've been wanting build something like it for a long time. Please take lots of pictures of your restoration.
Take care,
Tom

I've got that same trailer but a year older. So are you doing any work on it, and where does it stand as of now? I realize that you haven't posted on this in like 9 months. Here's hoping you see this. Doug

I do still have the Mobilglide. I was still working on my cargo conversion when I got it so its just been sitting in the driveway. I did gut it and start yanking up the old floor. However, my wife just learned last week that we are expected twins in December. So, it looks like the Mobilglide isn't going to be big enough to accommodate 5 of us. Man, as soon as I get a camper built my family outgrows it. I'm thinking of selling the Mobilglide and cargo conversion (wife can't talk me into selling the T.E.A.R.), and look for a larger vintage camper or a more modern camper. I really like the Mobilglide. I like the all aluminum construction. Was yours complete inside?

I only had the 2 upper cabinets and 1 floor cabinet. Everything else was gone as it was a parts/shop. Doug

Mine was complete fortunately. The original old coleman oven was still there. Even old license plates stuffed way back in the storage under the bed. Unfortunately, I think I am going to have to sell it. Sad sad sad day when I do.

If builders can put bunks in a tear, surely you can put some in that one.
