I thought I would ask this question because it would make for a great sticky! So how big do you think a potty closet needs to be. With and with out a shower.

They make shower/toilet pans as small as 24"x34", so I would say that is about as small as one can go with a combo. I used this minimal dimension in my shower/toilet room. I won't kid you it is tight. I would think this is about minimum for toilet without shower as well.

Kirkman, this is what a 24" x 34" bathroom looks like. Frankly it is perfect. small but big enough. I am tall and thin, so legroom for me at 6'-1" is an issue and it works fine. Now if I was a wide body then maybe the width would be an issue.

By the way the ceiling is low on my bathroom. I have 59" for height plus a 6" drop down in the shower pan, for a total of 65" I am 73" so there is crouching involved for the shower. My Wife is 63" so it is stand uppable for her.

You and me both! Thanks. I am at the half way point and taking a breather to make some design modifications before the next big push to finish my "Not A RV".

According to my notes, 28" wide by 36" long would be a very comfortable bathroom. While you could go smaller, you start to lose comfort.

We had a trailer with a 24" wide bathroom, and we could barely move!

Your right, 28" x 36" would be ideal. In my trailer everything is 2" short of ideal.

It's a while since I've posted this animation so here it is again.

The thing with potty rooms is that most of the space is completely useless for 99% of the time. One thing to consider is how to use the empty space (ie that bit not occupied by the potty itself) when it's not in use.

This idea is a straight copy of the arrangement we had in a boat when I was a boy. The door has a second leaf that folds out again to enclose a temporary room. It worked brilliantly though it might need a bit of adaptation to work so that you can go into the potty room at night.

I agree with Andrew...

That's why the porta potty in the standie foamie is positioned like this!

So are you pooping in front of someone or is that person leaving the trailer? Sorry to be so blunt but I have not used such an arrangement and I know no other way to ask it.

PS I guess I could have used a latin term for pooping. :D

Well, for starters, it's for #1 only.

And the other person will either be laying in bed, or outside.

I did not realize that it was only used for "#1". See it is good I asked a blunt question because I would have never known. In my house we have an unwritten "door closed" policy for both numbers.

I was thinking about putting one of these in my next build. No black water or fresh water holding tank to worry about. Kind of expensive but allot less hassle and you don't have to empty it very often.
