Grill furnace... not getting hot

Postby Shadow Catcher » Sun Jul 15, 2012 12:46 pm

I have been having a problem with the grill (small portable) not getting hot when working from the 20# bottle at home but working really well when attached to the gas point attached to Compass Rose. Took the single stage regulator in to a local dealer to have it checked figuring this was what was at fault, it was not. It was my turning on the gas at the tank too quickly. This a result of the valve design that is to prevent a too rapid release if for instance your dog chews through the hose.
Step 1 turn off valve at tank.
Step 2 release pressure in the line (turn on a valve on the stove...)
Step 3 shut off valve on grill...
Step 4 Open valve on tank as slowly as possible on tank for the first 1/4 turn.
