heres how we check for a gas leak at ferrellgas. and this is a standard in the propane industry. when you tell me the propane driver you smell gas. I get out my little spray bottle with red leak dectator sulution in it and I go spray down all your connections and fittings and all your pipeing.

if any thing blows a bubble like you blow bubbles as a kid. I know you got a leak espeically if your bubbles grow and grow!!!!!!!!!

or for the comomon man with no red leak dectator sulustion you guys can use soapy water!

want a propane fire use a liter.

I have done this as a kid stupidly in the past.

and yea. I cooked a barbaque bottle!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you will all learn fast not to use a liter!!!!!!

you would be suprised what I find when I hose a tank down with my spray bottle and leak dector red sulution and it starts blowing the bubbles at me. I go though about 10 propane house tanks a day or bettor and I find all sorts of little leaks.

its crazy! I am to the point I hate to even pull my spray bottle out and hose a tank down for kicks and grins.

I make myself so late getting home when I do that as I find all sorts of crappy tiny leaks I got to stay and burn daylight to fix!

Just remember, at the very least you're saving them money ... on the other side of the coin, you just might be saving someone's life. Your diligence in doing a job properly will pay off someday.

Just watched Rick do an old gas stove on the American Restoration , TV show (Last night.) For safety he called in a specialist who used a cigarette lighter to check for leaky valves. WTF? not even a warning about , " Dont do this at home!!!!!!!!!!!!".

Slow has it right, use a dish soap solution in a spray bottle and check for bubbles. Or like my gas fitter buddy used to say, "use safety matches" :D YES he was kidding!!!!!!!!!!!

LP gas is a great fuel but you must respect the safety rules and use common sence. Unfortunately, some people can flick their lighter faster than they can think.
