Tongue Boxes that fit a standard 20lb Propane tank

Postby wyrdone » Tue Jun 16, 2015 9:49 am

I'm having a doozey of a time finding a tongue box that will fit a 20lb propane tank.

Typically 12" in diameter and 18" tall. (I'd like a little wiggle room though.)

So anyone know of any that would fit? (Preferably Aluminum diamond plate but I'd consider any)

Check Amazon for the trapezoid shaped ones that are 22" tall. You'd have to cut ventilation holes in them. Do a search on tongue boxes on Amazon.

I would suggest a die grinder or metal cutting blade in a circular saw and make several slots in the underside of the box.
Since propane is heavier than air it settles. It will do little good to place vents high in the sides.

I bought a Dee Zee DZ91717 for my build. It fits a 20lb tank no problem. I will be cutting holes in the bottom to allow propane and water to drain out. I'll also be adding vents on the side/top to vent the battery which will also be going in the box.

(Select the large one)

Ended up getting: UWS TVB-34. Which will fit two tanks if I want it to. (Or one and chock blocks, etc.)
