Silly people, of course The Big Pink isn't blue.
With a name like The Big Pink, how could it be any color other than Yellow ? :?

The wings now have a removable mounting system,( I'll be adding a small piece of Velcro to ensure they stay level) and I still have to finish the pinstripes, but here it is ....

Image

I built a interior shelf for the AC, but the second door (Ad reads "ROUGH OPENING 20" X 14" X 2" THICK FULL OPENING: 21 1/2" X 15 1/2" ) I got is still only 12" at the actual opening !
I guess I'm the only one who knows how to read a tape measure, or maybe they measure cargo doors differently ?

So I've ordered a 20 "x 17" door, which should work :worship:

I seem to have an extra cargo door or 2 so....
Does anybody need a nice 20" X 14" X 2" cargo door ? (actual opening is 12")

I also still have a couple windows and a door still for sale ... (see link below)
I just might have to build another teardrop

On a previous excursion, we soon figured out that we needed an outside outlet ....
119877
It was either plug in the trailer or the popcorn machine.

So... I added an outside outlet.

121510
cut halfway through the foam
121511
installed the outlet box, backed by a piece of wood on the inside of the TD skirt
121512
waterproof cover installed

Nicely done! And something we'll need as well so I'll just be stealing that idea; thank you very much.

I would like to know more about that side car rig. Looks like Stieb or Ural car. What bike? How does it handle The Big Pink?

I've only pulled the TD short distances with the Ural Russian rig, mostly just for show. But, it pulls great with the bike.

I also have a Ukrainian Dnepr sidecar rig. It's heavier, but less horsepower. I haven't tried towing with it yet

Usually I pull it with this ... (Louella , you should appreciate this !)

I love my HHR.

Love the bike pulling the tear. I want a side car one so I can take Simba for a bike ride. :wine:

Might be bad idea to mention I am thinking about selling some of my BMW motorcycles.

Re: The Big Pink, it's cool ....

Postby tac422 » Mon Jul 07, 2014 8:50 pm

When last seen, the adopted parents of The Big Pink were sweating it out in the TD due to the higher temps.
So I've been working on adding an AC unit.
First I added a shelf to support the AC unit, which will be mounted on a sliding tray.
122124

I marked where the door should be, removed the shelf, and cut the inside canvas. To make sure the door would be in the right place, I fitted the door housing in the cut canvas. Then I cut the foam only from the inside and fitted the door housing from the inside against the uncut outer canvas. I poked a hole, and went outside with a long razor, and cut through the canvas to the metal frame. Then I trimmed the canvas, and moved the frame to the outside of the wall.
122125

I put the door back in the frame, inside view.
122127

outside view.
122126

I still have to glue the frame in place, and add angle iron inside as trim to help hold it in place.
and put the shelf back up .....

How about a bag of Ice in a plastic tub, hung from the roof an hour or so before bed time?

I could not go without a/c. Good job on doing it your way. My way of sticking it in the door way is a pita, it works, but its a pain.

close up, canvas overlaps ...
122153

starting to put door frame in ...
122152

Glued, clamped and drying ...
