Nasty stuff when burned , just like plywood and fiberglass resin … :o I can’t imagine that being worse than the inside of a new FEMA trailer …
We’ll have to burn test some various foams … although we haven’t heard of any problems in all these years … :NC
We do know a commercial RV or factory trailer will Burn quite Quickly … ( seen two burn up , fast !!! ) :frightened:

There are videos online and it doesn't seem that flammable. I mean I don't think it would catch fire if you drop a burning match as an example. Of course a constant flame would be different but what wouldn't be.

I have welded large floatation chambers with foam inside, that makes it burn / and stinks worse then a the hot wire.
Filled with water or pump out to balance Very large floating devices.

Most building and fire codes do not permit exposed foam in buildings. No official will inspect your teardrop so you can do as you please.

I'd still be more concerned by no skin on inside and the strength of foam by itself. A modest impact yo outside meets little resistance.

Lol not sure how we got there but I never said that I would leave it on bare foam ( unless we are talking about someone else). I asked if canvassing the interior was helping structurally or it could be covered with something else like wallpaper or vinyl wrap. Just the sound from bare foam is enough to not want to leave it uncovered.

Starting the build probably this week. I will try to take some pictures along the way. I am pretty bad for that but will try.

Yann, we’ve been building things with styrofoam for decades now , mostly model planes , and we’ve never had anything burn ….

It’s just plastic like so many other things in our lives that burn . Fire safety is always a must wherever you are !!!

Structurally , BOTH sides of the foam covered makes a much stronger construction , although the outer skin is of greater significance in structural strength ( like a sock ) … ;)
Good Luck Yann !!!

Started the build today. Took advices from most so far. Slight slope at the front and another one towards the back. Hopefully it will help for the drag etc. Will round edges as well.

Using what is available from the local store. No TBII in sight. So ran some tests with Elmer's Probond Max which is waterproof. Stick well to EPS.

I will try to take pics as I go. Tried to upload a picture but that ain't working for me. Will have to study the How-to's on photo uploading.

Eh second day working on the small foamie. Did cut a few more panels, made openings for windows and doors. Built the door frame and window frames.

I realized that I may have went a bit heavy on the "mix". OSB edges thickened quite a bit.

Pictures below. Walls are not glued to each other. I was just a bit curious to see how it would look.

Tomorrow I will cut 2 pieces for the roof and will glue window frames and door frame to the foam.

Thanks. Just a start but I appreciate. Do you know what is best to fill imperfections on the foam? I have a can of spray foam and I saw some people using some kind of spackling.

Gorilla Glue worked well for a lot of mine.
