well, so much for That idea... ah well... guess I build myself a one person tear so I can bug out occasionally instead of a larger family one (wife, me and youngest son) instead.

Go for it, but you need to make it big enough for you and your son, camping is great bonding time. You can also hone your skills on a smaller simplified trailer first, then go big on number 2. I sort of did that with the 1967 Aristocrat Lo-Liner. I completely redid the interior and fixed some rot, then took on this trailer.

Only 5 days until the maiden trip. I have been scrambling to get things all wrapped up and am getting close. The exterior is basically done. Roof seal (living hinge) is installed over the piano hinge using aluminum strips cut from old pieces from the donor tent trailer, counter tops are made, poly'd and installed, as is the table. The wheels are now black and the exterior markings are painted, the front window is installed. The upper sides are finished and are held in place by velcro along the entire perimeter. They install nicer than the pictures show, but I was in a hurry when I put them up. Our little 15" flat screen TV is in a removable mount. About the only things left that I need to take care off before we go are installing curtain rods (my wife is sewing them from a curtain panel we picked up on clearance), put a rock guard on the front (will likely be just a piece of 1/2" plywood painted black), and install a seal between the lower fixed wall and the roof. Hopefully the mattress shows up in the mail soon!

There will be some little things that will have to wait like a storage box on the tongue to hold the battery, etc (right now it is in the storage under the bed). The spare tire, currently flat and useless, needs to be mounted, probably also on the tongue. The interior needs some trim to cover the canvas edges and the side walls need some paint. I expect that we will come up with a list of other little things during the first trip. Here are the pics:

PLEASE tell me you have a mil-spec lantern to hang outside that trailer. That would be so cool. Then you need a green easy-up with a military stove. Nice job.

Would a heavy extension cord wire be adequate?

6.7 amps at 120V is 67 amps at 12V. You need the #4 from the battery to the inverter. 14# romex is fine for the 120V side of the inverter.
