Thanks Eagle. Ashtabula is East and North of me. I am 30 miles South of Cleveland via I-71. I paddled the Ashtabula river a couple of weeks ago though. BTW What kind of door latch did you use for your foamie? I think that I am going to do like you did and finish the exterior and make it campable then decide how I want to finish the interior.

Miriam, Actually I did not use any Gorilla Glue in this build. I used only Titebond II and 2 types of construction adhesive both made by Locktite. GG is a good product for a lot of tasks, just a bit messy. I have used it for a lot of woodworking projects. I just thought that I'd try something new so I used the adhesive specially made for foam. Like anything else, it comes down to what materials you like to work with.

i used simple lowes latches.

my storage latch is the same as the first one. the second i had to use one with a lock. they ran out of the first one.

now call me paranoid, but i make sure that when i go to sleep, the lock is on and closed and the other latch is locked and in the closed position. this will prevent any one from pulling a prank on you and locking you inside your tear.

make it campable and get out there. my insides are so not done, but there is a bed and its campable.

This is looking really good!

Thanks for the comments everyone. Barb, was wondering how long it would take you to find this. LOL

Last couple of days, I completed skinning the TD. Trimmed all edges best I could, ironed the whole thing. Skin came out tight and smooth. Hint, if you are using canvas drop cloths from HD, and need to cut them, brush a bit of watered down TBII along the cut line and let it dry before cutting. This will prevent fraying of the fabric. All I have to do to finish the exterior is paint, install the window, and make a door. Then I can mount on the trailer and finish the interior. I'm heading out now but here are some pics of progress.Image

great tip to prevent the fraying! gpw also recommends pinking shears.

but your tear is looking really really good! so you are not going to cover in the diluted t2?

after reading all the discussion about paints and sealing, etc. I just went straight to a good quality primer. The thing soaked up almost a full gallon of primer in one coat! Pinking shears? I forgot all about that. That actually would give character to the seams. Yesterday I got on the first coat of color. My wife picked out a kind of grey beige to match my S-10. I think it looks good. Gonna be busy the next few days so I'll be updating with new pics and progress early next week.

Have a good weekend.

i used the diluted t2/3 on top of the canvas. then when i put the primer on it only took less than 1/2 a gallon?

so i can see where if you don't use the dt2 then your canvas soaks up more primer.

hmm which one is cheaper to use. i think they both will work just fine.

Hey All,

Did not get to do too much today but I did manage to get the window installed and add wood to the door for hinges and a latch. Gotta let the glue dry before covering the door.
