The Mad Dash begins...

I've stretched the trailer to 10 1/2 feet. The axle is 55" from the rear. Now to solidify the design... :D

Notice the welds? Courtesy of the local Muffler Man! ;)

Jon,

It's not going to be as dashy as yours, because I have some structure underneath, whereas you don't.

I'll be a little heavier, but hopefully light enough to dash across the country...

First stop, probably your neck of the woods!

What number build is this? Or have you lost count? :NC It'll be interesting to see how the Meister does it.

I started cutting foamie panels for the mad dash today.

But you can call me the foam butcher...

Here's the panel I cut...

Here's a closeup of the panel that melted...

Here's what the bit looked like

Huh ... what caused that failure to launch, Mike ?

Looks like the bit wasn't making clean cuts before it had a meltdown ...

Yea, I must have been running it too fast. I slowed it down a bit, and the second side was coming along nicely, until the final cut. The part that I was trimming off was not secured down to the table. It popped up and snagged the router, and I lost a bunch of steps, to the tune of 1" in some areas. I have photos... give me a sec.

But thanks to Glenn, who constantly preaches homogenous materials, I glued some scraps in, and I'll try cutting it again...

Now it's time to think about the beer ballast for the maddash. I have exactly 4" of foam under the mattress. Beer bottles are 8 1/2 inches high, so that won't work. I could lay them down, cause they are only 2 1/2" in diameter. I'll have to go to the store tomorrow and see what diameter the beer cans are. I'll get back to you on the beer ballast!

It's the standard 2" EPS they sell in the orange big box. It's got 250 stamped on the edges. Owens Corning Foamular 250.

Today I am going to cut the tails. I can cut both tails from one piece of foam.

Then I am going to draw the hard edges and cut them out. I hope I have enough time to do that all today. It sounds like a full day!
