First shakedown run on a really windy day... Trailer towed perfectly and my Subaru Forester didn't know it was back there! I noted a few tweaks (lower hitch ball, secure the drawers so they don't fall out, etc...), but there was no sway or "tiptoeing" in the wind. 139586
I also weighed my trailer and I'm happy as a clam. Without any camping gear or tools, the trailer weighs in at 874 lbs (with tongue weight at 136 lbs.) 139585
I figure with gear, tools, food, and "stuff", I'll easily be under 1,100 lbs! I'll upload more photos as soon as I take them with the new curtains installed. Can't wait to go camping!
Anything is possible, if you don't know it can't be done!

Finished making and installing my swing away bike rack. Since we need to access our entry door in route, I needed to figure a way to keep the bikes on the back securely and be able to move them quickly. I settled on this design I copied from other racks on the web but it is very lightweight and strong. 139832139833
When not in use, it folds up vertically out of the way 139840139836

My wife did a bang up job on the curtains ansd our first overnighter was great!139837139839139838
In our excitement, we forgot our coffee.... Needless to say we left early for gas station coffee...

This looks great! I am looking to build something similar. Not including the trailer, do you thing this could be done under $1,000?

5150 ... “th Fine Art of Salvage “ ... As indicated many times in the BIG thread ( Thrifty Alternatives ^ ) scroungng, salvaging , finding whatever materials you can improves the "Fun per Buck Ratio" ... I built the FoamStream for under $1K ... Lots of careful shopping for materials and a free trailer a friend gave me did the trick ...

The whole original basis for a Foamie Camper ( IMHO) was Light and Cheap ... among many other positive features... ;)

General update: Went camping at Silver Strand State Beach (California), and the trailer, again, worked great!

Things I'd do differently are:
- Use larger (Optima) house battery w/converter/charger. My small/portable battery-inverter is not large enough for more than 2 days. Even though I used LEDs exclusively for lighting, I underestimated demands.
- The built in corner levelers are not needed, I'm using 2 small t-type jacks that I keep in my tongue box and they're flexible and easy to set up.
- It's not too bad, but I would design the beds to run longitudinally so the inside queen bed occupant doesn't need to crawl over another person at night. This would necessitate a radical floor plan modification and the loss of length would screw up my bathroom and kitchen arrangements. Need to think this one out...
- The exterior is holding up well and I've seen no evidence of deterioration on any of the painted canvas surface. I'm impressed with the quality of this paint!

Foam construction has been the way to go to hit all my target specifications and my Lovely Wife likes camping in it. What more can I say?!
Anything is possible, if you don't know it can't be done!
