I use a palm sander for rounding and a wallpaper scoring tool for roughing up the surface for a good glue to the canvas. (Chew the surface up good)

Now then , being a hunter when necessary, we always consider the intelligence of the animals … They’re not just dumb animals , they learn quick , when something is odd , they stay away …and seem to tell their friends too … :o Every successful attempt we had at camo/hiding was something that resembled a natural trash pile or rubble …

A little headway. I got the first coat of TB3 on and the entire structure canvased. Next step is to roll it on its side and canvas the bottom, then apply 50/50 mix of TB3 and water to all of it.

After that, its paint time.

I really dont like the seams, but I have to keep reminding myself that its only a deer stand

I think it will look a lot better once its painted.

I have only built one foamie and that was covered with FRP not canvas but I believe the canvas used for the walls is longer than needed and then glued to the underside of the floor like wrapping a package . Maybe some of the foamie guys can jump in.

Right. I didn’t think that through before I trimmed it. I meant to leave enough to wrap under. Tonight I squared up that cut and overlapped with a piece that now runs under. Another seam. Lol

This is definitely more work than throwing some plywood up and painting. I still think it should outlast the former blinds I’ve built.

Here are the updates.

This is after the 50/50 mix applied as well as one coat of exterior laytex paint.

I will probably do two more coats and then paint the inside a flat black color. The outside, I am not sure if I am going to go with an olive drab final color or just leave it this color.

Pretty much done!
Just a few little items on the inside such as a shooting rest and windows, then build the base then she's ready.

Really appreciate everyones input here. Came out better than expected and now I have several buddies that want to build one.

The only thing I would do different if I did it again would be to not frame with 2x2s. I think its super sturdy once its together and the 2x2s (Albeit not much) adds unnecessary weight.
