Winter Build

Postby TerryB89 » Sat Sep 28, 2019 4:21 pm

I read someplace in here about the foam expands when warm, If I build a foamie this winter, I will have to keep it in the driveway and roll it inside to work then back out under a tarp, if I do PMF when its cold, won't I have problems when it gets warm/hot next summer?

It *probably* won't be a problem. Your PMF should be applied when it's fairly warm to allow for the paint to cure properly. Some paints are 32F + but most are much happier in the 60-80 F range and can take quite a while to cure when doing the actual skinning. (titebond II is 55+ and tb III is 45+)

Good to know, maybe I should just let the trailer sit here and start on it mid March, unless we have another weird winter with a string of 60 days.

I built over a winter (and it's quite cold here). The only problem I had in the end was door fit. Everything else is ok. Also I camp in both 90f and -10f in the same camper and it just works and nothing moves. It's not like the fabric gets loose or antyhing. I mean you can't reliably glue or paint outside the acceptable curing temps for both.. (read your packaging) but I don't see why you couldn't do a bunch of fit up and construction over the winter.

Also it will leave you time for the inevitable now I have to think about how to solve that next problem phases.
