PMF seam... tucking wall canvas into a small kerf

Postby TimC » Sat Aug 15, 2020 6:31 am

Somewhere on tnttt I saw a mention of finishing of the wall/roof seam by tucking the top of the wall canvas into a kerf in the foam. Then the roof ply laps over that creating a fairly straight seam bump. I can't seam to find that post. Is that technique worth the time creating that kerf?

As an alternative I thought about glueing the canvas down on the top of the wall foam and then gluing the roof foam over that layer. Would canvas between the top of the wall's 2" foam and the ceiling foam make for a weaker or stronger joint?

The reason I'm sweating this issue is I don't feel confident that our joint/seam is going to look good. We have a flap of unglued canvas on top of the wall and want to round off the roof foam before finishing the pmf. I fear the flap of canvas is going to cause some problems somehow.

I would wrap the wall canvas and before the glue is fully dry, use a straight edge and razor blade to make a nice clean edge. Then cover with the top canvas. I wouldn't go less than 2" overlap, 4" is better.
