MJ, check the serial number on the block if it's a 327 you want. Factory 327's don't come with 4 bolt main caps. You can however put a large journal (they came with large or small journal) 327 crank into a 350 4 bolt and make it a 327. The bore is the same. The stroke and position of the wrist pin is the difference. Jim

thanks for the info Jim. Like I said, it belongs to a friend and I have only seen it sitting in the back of his garage...I remember the truck it came out of and only know what he has said about what it is...

p.s I also have a '72 longbed Chevy PU with a very tired (180,000) 350 auto init...the body is in fair or better shape and either it or the S-10 is going to get a major resto.....

Jack for the resto/custom the 72 of coarse will be worth more in the long run.HOWEVER, the s 10 blazer v-8'ed would be very fun and fairly easy to do. I've help with 2 and mines next. Only real problem is traction.

Our trailer isn't as tiny as most of yours- it weighs about 2400 pounds loaded up for a trip.

We pull it with the vehicle voted as "2004 Towcar of the Year" by the U.K. Caravan Club. A 2004 Subaru Forester XT2.5. The turbo gives it a nice torque curve with at least 200 lb*ft everywhere from 2000 to 5500 rpm's. 4.44:1 final ratio and all wheel drive help too.

It was quite gratifying to have plenty of power while towing to pass a Chevy Avalanche with a hulking V-8 that was having trouble making 45 mph going uphill at 10,000 feet in the Sierras.

Now if only the radiator could keep up with the engine...

my trailer isnt done yet still but its going to be towed by my 78 camaro most of the time to car shows and such and the 96 jimmy for general camping use
oh and by the way did anyone else have to make there own trailer hitch for there car because there isnt one that exists for a 78 camaro anywhere so we had to custom make that as well

I had to make hitchs for both the '56 and the '59. Although they work just fine, I'm going to rebuild both. The '59, I'm going to put it behind the license plate and then the '56, I'm just going to improve it and make it more removable.

Have a good Thanksgiving.

I would really rather do the '72...lowered they are some kinda sharp...if it was a short bed there would be no question but since it is a long bed, I have toying with making an extended cab outta it and shortening the bed and chopping the roof
