Naw, I won't miss the board. Like that, I'm going to be on vacation. But I wonder how long it will take before someone asks:
Has any one seen or heard from Gage? He hasn't posted in a couple of weeks now. Besides Miriam, we'll see each other at Minden. I'll be the one with a big sign on my tear so every one will know where I'm located so they can stay away or come and say hi and have a coke.

Heck Danny, no further for you than me. And besides, if we had it at Disney Land in California. How many do you think would come from East of the Rockies? You need to come up with another excuss.

Dont' listen to Gage... he is an imposter!!! All that hi-tech gear in his tear, yet he isn't much for 'Internet-toogo' ... fooie!! :D

Internet is important.. ok for some of us...

If we have Internet, then we can camp longer without having to worry about work etc.

Besides... you just need it for between morning coffee and jumping in the boat anyways.

Besides yah gotta stay in touch with peeps on mikenchell.com !!

Here's my excuse: I can't do them all since I'm not retired & neither is my wife. I would rather go to the Dam Gathering & Sweetwater. Jane & I were married just down the street (Sweetwater) at Glenn Abby's Little Chapel of The Roses, it would be nice to visit again. The one near Oceanside/Vista would be another we would be interested in if time & money would permit. Nebraskie? As a kid in the 50's we would drive there from San Diego to that forsaken town called Lincoln to visit a relative, not impressed at all. Also we have lots of events here in Washington & Oregon to go too, they are a neat group to camp with   . :D Danny

Well, I guess that'll work for now. Say, did you not get the word. Sweetwater is no more. Well, no more in San Diego. It has moved to Lake Perris, just south of Riverside and it's going to be held in March this year. A new fwy now goes through the park.

Thanks for the info Gage. I'm familiar with Parris & I'm OK with that. I don't understand this Minden thing though. Why does it always have to be in the same town? I belong to The American Association of Woodturners and every year they have a national symposium in a different city in a different area of the USA, they take turns. This way those who can't travel to one may be able to attend another. It seems like a more interesting and fair system. :D Danny

This topic started off being kind of interesting.... then it just went downhill from there....

I think we need another wifi topic where they actually discuss wifi.

It appears the author has disappeared and it got hijacked long ago. You could start another WIFI. Danny

Sorry Danny, I can't discuss this any further. Arne is getting pissed and he didn't even start this thread. Hell there has only been three topics discussed on this thread so far with nobody getting upset except for the creator himself and that was before any hijacking took place.

P.M. me Danny and I'll do my best to explain.

I'm not that annoyed about it except I keep seeing new notes posted and since I am a wi-fi user I keep coming back hoping to gain some information that would allow me to find wi-fi hot spots easier when traveling and maybe some other tips. Instead.... actually, I don't even know what the notes are about any longer. I just see the same few people throwing useless off-topic crap around for their own entertainment....

So, I just pointed it out.

Arne,

I rarely go away without my iBook. I can write on a computer a LOT faster than I can write by hand, and I do both.

Truthfully, I don't remember any time I camped when WiFi was even available. If it had, I would have used it, guarantee.

I also carry a cell phone (only phone I have) and rarely find a camp site that has even marginal coverage.

All of this non-connection has more to do with location than willingness.

I don't feel enslaved to any of these devices, they add value to my life.

Well, as mentioned very early on, I need to be connected for my job (I am retired, but when I am in the market, I do have to follow it). So, it isn't about fun and games and email, it's about making a living.... I don't necessarily pick camping places for wifi, but i'm happy if they have it... and if I really need it, the campground can also usually direct me to a nearby hotel with open wifi unless I'm in a remote location.

I can usually find wifi along the route, but that as mentioned, kills about 2 hours, which I would rather be traveling..... at a campground, it is there, I can do what I need to in about 10 minutes.... much easier.

I've collected a few sites that supposedly keep track of where wifi is available, but they are iffy..... a small town of 1,500 people in VT had wifi at their library.... A city in New York, about 50,000, did not... so I continue to look for information.
