I agree with you there Larry. But I ain't no wood worker. Hope the next one turns out a little better. I've learned so much this time around. Most of the Mini-Grasshopper was an experement. Type of glue to use for the sides, etc. I don't think I used the same for anypart of it. I did find what works best and will use that from now own.

All of 'em except the second one and the last one work for me! But the "most appropriate" is the minimialist campsite. Anybody with a big enough tow vehicle can drag around a huge trailer filled with more crap than they'll ever need. There's just something about making a comfortable camp with a minimum of stuff. For seasonal or camping a week or more at a time, I'd rather have something a bit bigger with bathroom, shower, and so on, like maybe a canned ham or scotty. But for just getting away for a weekend, or for long trips, I'd like something smaller and easier to tow and set up. TDs and TTs are perfect for that!

Another big advantage with a tear is that you can head out to your favorite park without a reservation. So you might have to flip up your rear jackets and walk the tear over a few sites every day or so. I remember once we had to move three times! Just made more new friends actually, and we got to try out a few different sites.

Its all good in teardrop land!

I think real reason is because I like to camp and It is just not camping in big road monster. The teardrop is more like tent camping without all the putting up and tearing down and airing out. When I get ready to camp all I have to do is hook up.

The one thing for sure when you drop something and it rolls underneath the teardrop and I do not feel like crawling on the ground I just kick the chocks and push it out of the way. Then bend over and pick it up. Or if the sun is in your face in the afternoon, literaly push the teardrop until l it isn't any more. The big plus is watching the big boys crash into stuff jockeying those big rigs into those tiny rv parking areas when I can unhooked and backed mine by hand.

Mainly I want something light with hardsides. That pretty much ruled out most commercial trailers. Our cars are 4cyl and max towing is 3500lbs for the Highlander. I would not even want to go near that limit on any kind of trip.

As previously mentioned, this whole tear building project came about by accident. It was mentioned in passing on an internet forum for the Honda Odyssey minivan... I checked it out.....

At the same time, last winter, I told Shirley to keep the month of Oct. open for a road trip. We were going to camp out of the Odyssey. Shirley, me and Gretta. When I saw a pic of a tear, it just clicked. I could camp in larger quarters, drive the van aound places after dropping off the tear without all the mess in the van (the mess will probably happen anyway).... the perfect 'fit'.....

Now, the dog just got sprayed by a skunk (really) and I still smell of CPES, so the dog and I have similarly disgusting odors..... I've done a search on the net and came up with a 'recipe' to clean up the dog, so that is my next project....... then about 7 a.m., the next coat of cpes goes on. It went further than I expected, so will use up the extra on another coat of protection.......

Yes, indeed. That was our number one reason for getting ours--both financially and ecologically.

We got ours for several reasons. I guess #1 was the gas situation but we like to take our MINI so we needed something to pull behind it. Then we started meeting Teardrop people and just fell in love with them. We have been so impressed with everyone and just amazed at the builds.
