Are there too many off topic posts on this forum?

Here's where we keep the polls, and anyone can start a poll!

What would you do about off topic posts?

I love all posts that have nothing to do with teardrops. The more the better - and in any topic area too.

  You guys just crack me up sometimes

But I have a question and I'm sure I'll regret asking as I'm sure I'm miss reading it
But what's an ad hominem?

Joseph wrote:That's another matter. As anyone who has been here for a while knows, I enjoy a good argument/debate/discussion. But IMHO there is absolutely no excuse for name-calling, insults or ad hominem attacks. If you can't make your point without stooping to this kind of behavior, you don't have one to make.

Wikypeiday wrote:An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: "argument to the person", "argument against the man") consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. It is most commonly used to refer specifically to the ad hominem abusive, or argumentum ad personam, which consists of criticizing or personally attacking an argument's proponent in an attempt to discredit that argument.

Basically if you don't like loosing an arguement---attack the other persons character.

Example=see all arguments on the forum. :rofl2: Course if you don't want the world to know you lost the argument just call names and get it pulled.

I always clean up after a build. I guess that should tell you the last time I cleaned up something.
And I too am suprised that Steve didn't make a document and catalog it for future reference.

I've been away for a while, has this thread been hijacked or ad hominemed yet?

Cheers

Paul,
A member on the dutch oven site is from Australia...
He posted pics of a close encounter he had with a wombat.
Had a face to face stare down with it for several minutes before the wombat decided to go on it's merry way.
Says folks down there thought he was mad for getting so close to one, something about wombats being able to tear a chunck out of a human leg clear down to the bone...
Whadya think, is he mad???
Here's the link...
The thing looks like a cross between a pig, beaver and rat to me...

They can hit speeds of about 30mph, They eat roots shoots and leaves, hit one in your car and it will rip the front end right out.
They are a protected species, so we cannot kill them.
And they are capable of doing major damage if you get between them and their burrow or their young.
