I'm thinking you could add one of these peppers to any beer or wine and achieve the same effect....

These peppers stay warm for a long time!!! :?

How 'bout Vernor's ginger beer for the easterners among us?

Try this, 2oz Gin, Almost a pint of Guiness and the last inch  Ginger beer.
Yummy!

Never heard of it.

Vernor's is an aged ginger ale and it is wonderful! For something different, try slicing strawberries and dropping them into some Vernor's - a real treat!

Now, being a true Eastena' - how about some birch beer? (and not the pink stuff - the clear only!)

Never tried their ginger beer. Do they make it in diet? I don't do sugar. Anyway, their diet Orange & Cream soda is outstanding!

Cor blimey! A load of Merkan adults discussing ginger beer! It was the only drink that teams of child detectives (did any of you read 'The Famous Five'?) could drink up to the 1950s. Also, if you check, I think you'll find that there was nothing that Lassie liked more as a reward for saving another life.....

A large amount of ginger beer (eg, for a birthday celebration) is known as 'lashings' - as in "we had sandwiches and cakes and lashings of ginger beer". Saying "golly gosh" a lot is entirely optional and may not be appropriate in all circumstances.

Why not make your own? Here is a traditional recipe that will work a treat. The exponential growth in the ginger beer 'plant' is impressive and at some stage you have to take the decision to start throwing the surplus away - otherwise you exhaust every friend and relation you have, after you have tried to persuade them to take it off your hands and start brewing themselves.

And remember, children, you must never point a fermenting ginger beer bottle at anyone....

Toodle pip,
Andrew

Aged, sounds like it has an effective amount of alcohol in it and is not like a soda pop, eh?

Sounds interesting...
BTW you said that just like they say it.
(Aww, Get Outta Hyea!)

Sounds good!
BTW- Thanks for that recipe... Uh-Oh,
Yeast, Mead... sound like this is a high powered recipe.
(I'm looking for a non alcohol version)

The alcohol content is minimal - typically less than 0.5%. In this country ginger beer does not count as alcohol, despite its name, and has always been available to children.

If the ginger beer 'plant' seems too complex, here is another recipe.

Dean,

To my knowledge, there is no alcohol in Vernor's - it is a "soda pop" as you call it or as we New Englander's say "tonic."

Oh, and I hope I said it "just like they say it" as I was born and raised in New Hampsha' :D

Betsey

PS - still no birch beer lovers? How about Moxie?

Betsey,
I recently installed a stained glass ceiling back in Conneticut at a casino called Foxwoods. (Huge place)
I thought the folks back there were just wonderful.
I got a kick out of just talking with grocery store clerks. I just got a kick from their accents and they would say, "No... You're the one with the funny accent."

What about "Potty" = Party

Knew a girl in college she'd ask, "where's the potty?" We'd say over there marked "Women"
