How high-tech is your TD?

So, is your TD a rough and ready escape from the high-tech world, or a state-of-the art media center on wheels.

Post up!

Chell has to have her TV...

As an admin, I have to check to make sure the forum is alright...

So we have TV and Internet, nothing else...

Actually there is not a correct choice for me. I usually take my laptop along to play DVDs if we want to watch a movie. I use it for the internet if there is free wireless at the campground. And sometimes I have things that I am working on that require a computer.

I originally did my TD set-up to be one step above a tent. Later, since I want to camp down here in the summertime, I broke down and added air-conditioning. I only use that to sleep at night when it is hot.

I have contemplated adding a stereo, but keep changing my mind -- mostly because it would use up my very limited space. I have a boom box I can bring along, if I'm camping alone. At gatherings, I'm usually hanging out with other people, so I wouldn't use it, anyway.

I have brought my laptop with me on all my gathering trips, but I have never used it for anything. It just stays in the car.

My idea of Hi-Tech is a 12volt Fan.

20 some years ago when I got into this teardrop thing, this was a way to take me back to "The good O'l days" when I went camping as a kid and still have some comfort.

I camp a lot and have never brought a TV, VCR, DVD. Have never needed an inverter so I can run 110V things. 99.99% of the time I camp with out electricity... and enjoy it. the only draw back is the Ham Bone next to me is running a generator all night to watch movies "cause he can't sleep" (that has happened to me, And I kept him up all day so he could sleep the next night)

I do bring a portable radio with me, but I don't use it a lot. I have a stove, but mainly use it for morning coffee, mostly cook over a fire. 12V lights are nice...but I don't use them all the time either. I do feel better having a Cell Phone in case of an emergency. But!...It doesn't work everywhere I go. Flush toilets and showers are nice, but I have gone behind a tree and Jumped into the creek, or "taken a bath in a bucket".

Camping is my way of "running away from all that stuff". I work in the RV industry, and I see people..RV'ers that CAN'T go away because there Satellite System is only picking up half the stations. Or stay home because there Tiffany lamp is out. Believe me ...I see this every day. And I feel bad for them.

No, it doesn't take much to keep me occupied.

And if theres FISH! Well I'm just in heaven.

Happy Trails

Well, let's see...
Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound - Check
19" LCD Monitor - Check
Custom built Media PC - Almost done
Satellite Radio - Check
Ham Radio - Check

Now, what's missing...

By the way, I do enjoy real camping occasionally but, this trailer was built for luxury accomodations while traveling. Still small enough to park in the driveway at 13 ft hatch to hitch :D :vroom: :relaxing:

Holographic television display !

O.K. ya caught me !

Had a tiff with old whats her name last night and slept in the tear.
Not much going on but a little wind so I laid there watching
my big old mulberry tree and the neighbors white pine
dance in the breeze as I stared thru the lexan roof. Grey
and over cast I must have drifted off about 7:45. So
obviously I woke up real early 4 AM so I turned on the
television. Now my 5" tv sets about on the tip of my big
toe in the front cabinet so watching it while laying flat is
neck breaking. However being dark and overcast outside
I noticed the TV is reflected in the lexan roof perfectly and
you are able to listen to the broadcast and watch the TV
screen reflecting off of the roof. So its kinda sorta a holographic projection !
