Folks,

There are a lot of options for making coffee these days. Which do you use in camp? What are the advantages & disadvantages?

Also, can you make coffee in the cabin of your teardrop? If so, how?

One of life's great pleasures...making coffee first thing in the morning at the campground! It's almost a ritual...I don't think I would trade it for making coffee inside even if I thought that was an option.
I bought an old stove top perc at a thrift store for $1.50. It doesn't take too long on my Coleman stove and makes great coffee if I use good beans and don't perc it too long.

A little 2 cupper. Small easy to pack. Makes a good strong 2 cups quickly and the best part every 3rd cup is fresh !

Aeropress/ Other



Once you've had a cup of Aeropressed Coffee one only goes back to the old methods of extracting coffee just to prove/remind oneself how BAD a cup of coffee can be.

Very portable, very simple, very good coffee, unbelievably simple/easy cleanup excellent for camping.

Well, I bought a K-Cup single cup coffeemaker last year, and then go one for Christmas this year. So, I put the old on in the TD. I get a fresh cup of coffee anytime I want.

Folgers coffee in a bag. Kind of like a tea bag.

It's good coffee but it leaves a lot of junk in the bottom of the cup.

...agree on the "ritual" aspects...I have a large blueware perc...I fill it with water and put it on the stove...without the guts in it...when it boils, I drop the guts in, cut the heat to as low as possible and count off five minutes...good, strong coffee...I do keep telling myself, I am going to get ans AeroPress one of these daze and give it a try......

I use a stove top perk full of folgers at home and camping.

some kahlua, irish creme and tuaca, a splash of coffee for flavor

Though I personally am in the "Eeewwwwww" category when it comes to coffee, I voted "Other" because my wife uses the Folger's coffee-bags. I'm a tea drinker so in cooler weather we are heating water anyway so the bags work well for us. Trace says the flavor is OK.

My coffee bar has a Mr Coffee.
If it is cold outside I put the coffee maker in one of the cabinets so all I have to do is sit up and turn it on.

I bought the Colman Coffee Maker. I don't like it. The instuctions say to turn the camp stove off after the brewing cycle so there is nothing to keep the coffee hot after it's brewed.(My wife bought an Air Pot Thermos to solve the problem.) It's also fairly large and doesn't come with anything to store it in.(You have to buy it separately.) If you add the price of the coffee maker, storage bag and a thermos it's not worth it.

I'm with Geron on this one. I love my giant coffee syringe The Aeropress works great for me because I'm the only coffee drinker in the house, and I never want more that one cup anyway. Clean-up is a snap, you just give it a quick rinse after popping the grounds into the compost.
Besides, it's a conversation starter

We use a Mr. Coffee Espresso maker.

There are certain things associated with camping for me.

A Coleman Lantern "hissing", getting a GOOD nights sleep, the smell of a camp fire and all your cloths smelling like smoke from it, a disgustingly unhealthy breakfast...Bacon, sausage, home fries, eggs, pancakes with way to much syrup and butter.

And the smell of Coffee brewing in a stove top percolator.

Preferably on a Coleman stove.
