How often do you use each of the following for cooking when you're camping?

* Camp stove
* Grill (charcoal or propane)
* Cook over the wood fire pit
* Camp oven
* Microwave
* Other

I use Kathleen.... not sure what she uses....

But, we do have a one burner stove attachment that screws on top of a propane bottle.

And we have a microwave oven.... I think she uses both.

We have a two burner propane stove (in the basement). That might get taken along some day....

I use a variety of cooking implements. I use my camp stove for heating water and frying foods. I have a small grill that I use to BBQ burgers and steaks. Lastly, I always take a couple of Dutch Ovens for fresh bread, rolls, biscuits, roasting a chicken, cobblers, or casseroles.

I would like to do more campfire cooking, but around here all we get is soft woods. My friends in central California always cook with oak and it creates a great bed of coals to cook over.

Rarely do I actually use the DO camping.. I know... that's just wrong.

We have a tripod with a round grill grate attached with chains. I use this one the most, over the campfire, and usually for foil-pocket cooking or for meats. This picture shows the dutch oven hanging from the chain.



Next is my two burner propane stove. We have an old aluminum table that I put this on (remember, we're still *gasp* tent people), and I cook with either the enamelware pots or the cast iron griddle or skillet.

Depending on the menu, we sometimes carry a small Weber grill with a bag of Match Light. Rarely.

My Dutch Oven is so big that I only use it when I know there will be a bunch of people camping with us.

NOTE TO SELF: Get a smaller dutch oven and learn to stack!

I use my pie iron over the camp fire 99% of the time. the other times I have a coleman propane stove.

Depends!! (not the adult diapers!!!!).

Mostly the Coleman propane and one CI fry pan and a Goodwill cephalon sauce pot: but I also carry an electric skillet that I can plug into shore power and do most things in (multi-tasker..... fries eggs and pancakes just as well as doing one pot meals).

The tear is definitely getting a microwave when it's finished!!

Use this the most.



After that we use a charcoal grill, camp fire & dutch oven

Mostly the Colman two burner and the propane Weber Q grill. Been thinking of trying a DO.

Don't know if my vote counts, still being a tent camper and all, but I use a single burner that screws onto the propane tank. Kids are waaay too impatient to wait for coals...

My cooking abilities consist of boiling water and dropping a Pop-Tart in the toaster. And since a toaster wasn't included in your options, I'd have to say the camp stove.

At least you didn't drop the pop tart in the boiling water...if you do this...leave it in it's pouch! Just an idea...sorry, it was just there and someone was probably going to say it. doug

Boy thats a nice cooking stove/oven. How does the oven bake?
Im in Pennsylvania Id sure like to find that stove around here.

I have a single burner Butane stove.



And after reviewing all my Camp Cooking needs I have found the only essential thing I really "need" a stove for...according to the way I camp is morning Coffee.

I REALLY NEED that no muss-no fuss option in the morning.

I do carry a Coleman single burner propane stove..just in case.



But I primarily cook over a Charcoal/wood fire.



Even the evening pot of coffee is made over the fire.

Cooking is a Camping activity that I enjoy. The preparation, building the fire and getting the coals just right, the right pots & pans, new recipes, cooking & clean up tricks.

That sigh of relief when no one gets sick after eating your meals...Its a great feeling.
