Teardrops n Tiny Travel Trailers

Trying to think ahead on my build, I'm wondering what type of table everyone uses. I may be overthinking this, but I'm leaning toward a side mounted table so I can close my hatch if I need to.

Normally we use the table at the campground... but we typically pack a little roll up table in case there is no table at our campsite.

We store our work table on top of the hob/sink unit when we're traveling, or if we don't need to cook or wash up.


When we want to use the on board facilities , it slides onto the rear of the galley, and is supported back onto the trailer;


We tend to eat off our laps , or use a campsite picknic bench.

Ordinarily I'll use the picnic tables provided but I built this Colonial style knock-down table years ago and occasionally I'll bring it along.

I attached one to the side of my trailer. It works great since I like to make bread and biscuits while I'm out camping. I can knead dough or roll out biscuits without making a mess in the galley.

I'm with Joanne, couldn't decide on attached to galley or fastened to the side so I did both. Both tables stow away handily, the side table in the lower galley cabinets & the 'swing-away' does just that (folds up for travel, lowering the hatch at night, etc). Leaves plenty of room for working on the galley counter. Oh yeah, I installed a rail on each side of the TD so the side table can be used either place. Have plans to construct another side table but haven't yet done so.

We have an old card table we use, in addition to a longer folding table.
I noticed the Chinese folding chairs we were using were kind of short for the card table so I cut the legs down a couple of inches. Friend Venessa gave us the table cloth.

we have a fold out table for extra workspace but ususally we use the picnic table at the campsite for eating.

I have a table and benches that fold up into a suitcase and another roll up aluminum table. We usually use the picnic table provided to cook and eat on but I have these tables in case there isn't a table at the site. I set up the suitcase table as my cooking table and the other table as the eating table. The suitcase table is a bit smallish, but it works gerat for the stove.

Although I could, I don't like to cook in the galley for a few reasons. I don't want to get grease or splatter in the galley, I don't want it to smell like food which might interest the local wildlife, and open flame and all that wood doesn't seem right.

My big lot $6.00 knock downs are about as user friendly as you can get.
multiple heights can be a extra counter 1 minute and adjusted to make a 4 year olds dining table the next. I store the tops on the underside of my flip down counter.

Here it is as an extra support for the neich for my pot belly stove.

Joseph, you are the man. knock-down table, wicker basket, and a cooler with a handle that locks the lid... I haven't seen one of those for many years..... very nice.

An adaptation of Doug's idea . See signature photo. It has the Dutch Oven top and I have a shorter leg for another top for the cooler.

I like your side tables. Did you just weld some 1 1/4 receiver hitches to the side rails?

When I started this poll, I never thought about a place to eat meals. I was thinking only of a place for the cookstove outside of the galley. We don't do a lot of wilderness tent camping, but there are some places we go that don't have picnic tables. I think I'll carry a table to eat on too.

Aggie, I welded together two pieces of 1 1/2" angle iron to make the receivers.
I used 1 1/4" square tubing for the legs.
I use thumb screws through welded nuts to hold them tight.
In this photo of the chassis in the down side up position, you'll see them welded
on a short piece of 1 1/4" tubing to place
them just below my walls that cover the chassis.
It makes a great place to weld my back up light brackets to. Danny
