T&TTT Shirts

Postby Guest » Thu May 05, 2005 8:36 pm

I pulled all of the clothing off of the shelf today at our Cafepress online store.
I recieved a personal shipment today and I wasn't happy with what happened to the coloring on the design for the shirts.
My girlfriend just showed up and she thinks it looks great and really likes it.
She thinks that the grey sweatshirt may have caused the color to shift just a bit and thinks I'm a perfectionist...

So... Take a look at this jpeg (I couldn't get a png file to work) of the sweatshirt and please partake in the poll.

See Dean, 100% believe you did fine the first time......

Actually it looks fine to me. And I think the stien, being white, will contrast nicely with a bit of Guinness...... :)

I voted to make a color change but not because I think it would look better, but because I think that's what you want to do. I think they look fine the way they are but you probably are a perfectionist and being one myself I understand your frustration. You can at least ask them about the colors. I don't know if it's the picture or not but I'm assuming you want the colors more vivid. If they don't want to change things or it's a hassle, just consider that you won't have to wash them so many times to get them to give them that worn look. Heck, with that type of block design you might not like the colors brighter.

We have a Cafe Press store for a rodding site I'm on and they worked with us on the colors. We didn't use a block design. It's more individual items in a scene but the colors came out pretty much the way they were designed.

I had to go back and look at the original logos but I really think the shirt looks fine Dean.

Dean the grey shirts from my cafepress store have the same "problem". The texture/color of the shirt comes through the design. The white shirts don't have that problem. They would have to make the ink a lot thicker to cover better but it would be way too heavy.

I'm happy with them both ways.

I just got my coffee cups today and they came out great. I'll have to order more as I changed the design on mine after seeing the T&TTT ones you did. Plus I'll have to order some T&TTT ones for myself as well.

They really seem to do a great job and they're certainly speedy on delivery. Plus the fact that you can change things as you need without having a lot of stock laying around.

Nick.

P.S. How about if Mike uses the coffee cup design for the top of the web site?

They look great Dean. Put them back on the shelf. Offer the shirts in white. White will show the colors much better.

Nick,
Thanks for confirming that for me about what the grey fabrics do to the colors...
I'll put back the white shirts, but I am going to attempt an sdjustment on the grey colored shirts.
I know not everyone appreciates this simple "loose" style of art work and that's OK, but most of you seem to like it.
I would really like to see someone that is into graphic arts, get another Cafepress store going... I'm sure Mike would like that too.

Sorry about all the fuss...
I'm not a perfectionist, I just didn't want anyone to fork out good money and be disapointed when their shirt showed up at the doorstep.
I made an adjustment to the shirt design for the grey shirts and it looked good so I'll use it on the other shirts as well...
Everything is back on the shelf...

Dean,

I think you've done an excellent job on the stuff. I understand your concern on the shirt... Someone mentioned playing with the colors... a little bit of tweaking might be all you need...

Keep up the good work...

Mike...

P.S. Michelle just looked over my shoulder and said, "I'll take a shirt"!!! :D

I think the design would look better if it wasn't a square box of color.. or a square box for that matter.. makes it look like a stick on rather than a logo image sitting on the t-shirt... sorry guess I fall into the 'friggin perfectionist' category but I'm really trying to be helpful.

So how about if you take the background and make it invisible? :?

Dave and Mike,
The nice thing about Cafepress is how fast they get the stuff to you, but they have limitations on what you can do with the templates and layouts.
I think was caused the problem was I just didn't have enough color variation on the blue blends and it was a grey shirt to boot.
I like Cafepress, quick service and for the most part everything looks good...
I was really happy with how the mugs and stein turned out.
About all I could do in this case was to alter the background colors a bit, which I did end up doing and I'm happy with how it looks or eliminate the background all together, which I tried early on in a test and it just made everything look scattered.
Here's a screen capture of their large view with the colors adjusted on the design to get a bit more contrast between the sky and treeline...

Dean,

Would it be possible to switch from the square to a teardrop shape like a benroy or something similar? Just a thought.

Kevin,
I'm going to wait until my new drawing program shows up before doing anymore drawings.
I tried doing transparent backgounds in portions of the templates that they want me to follow, but the image showed up as being black where it was supposed to be transparent.
I know it can be done, because I've looked at other Cafepress stores.
Maybe it's this cheesy little drawing program I'm using?
I'll figure out how to do something like that when I'm retooled, but I'll do a separate store and leave the swooshdrops store intact. (That way everyone can have more choices)
