Newbie asks...in campgrounds do you park in "tent"

...Or do you park in the RV area.
Seems like if one has 12V electric (self-supplied) the tent area may be a viable alternative...

I just want electricity... don't care where, but it usually means the r/v area...

Why would you want to park in the tent area? It usually means more mud potential..

I do have 12v, and use it for lights, but I recharge the battery as I camp.. that doesn't mean I won't go to an area where I don't have elec., and I have, but for the same price, I'll take all the goodies....

Don't the RV sites come with neighbors' generators?

Most RV sites provide power to avoid neighbors with dueling generators. I like RV sites because it is a calmer crowd that the tent areas. And they are usually closer to the campgrounds facilities, which is nice cosidering that, like a tent, you still have to get up and go to the bathroom.

I have limited experience camping with our teardrop, but what I have found is that most campgrounds (public or government run) do not allow trailers, no matter how small, in sites designated for tents. The trailer must "stay on the pad". As a result, you end up camping alongside the big RVs. We back up the teardrop to the end of the pad and set up the tend behind it as shown here.



Most campgrounds post rules designating "quiet hours" when generators and loud music is prohibited. However, enforcement of these rules varies. Most times, a polite reminder is all that is necessary for violators to comply.
