I'm with Coop.

Cushions & Covers!

Without a doubt an extremely BIG expense that is never counted on.

Happy Trails

Same for me.

I have to revise my vote...I bought secondhand windows, so the trailer is now the most expensive item @ $280.... :o

The frame (all aluminum) followed by the gas electric water heater.

Other: my older trailer frame came with 1934 Ford wire wheels. So buying all the reproduction Ford items, i.e., whitewall tires, fenders, rear brake lights was the most expensive part. But that is what makes the trailer. 8)

So far the trailer...since we're just starting, may have to revise it later. It could be eclipsed by the cushions/covers as others have said. What I've just put into replacing the cushions/covers/curtains in the cabover camper has already cost more than the purchased trailer/frame for the td build. Don't expect to need as much for the td and we're still undecided on the doors, so time will tell.

Yeah this is a hard poll to pull off. I chose the Axle because from the list it was the most expensive, but I would say it was the wheels and tires since I got car size.

I got a great deal on my Aluminum, but I would think that would be a big one for people and don't forget fiberglass fenders too! We aren't even counting wood too, my 4x10 Maple walls alone were $135 each! :?

Auminum sheeting - I'm using the "mirror" polished anodized aluminum. For five 4'x10' sheets ti cost me about $750.

so far our biggest cost has been the trailer ($510) and I'd like to keep it that way. Originally we wanted the pre-made doors that come on the Little Guy trailers, but once we starting looking and couldn't find them cheaper than $280 each, we changed our mind. I'm shopping for metal now, but even that looks like it's come in under half what we paid for the trailer.

My single door was more expensive than the frame. Without the 20% off coupon, the frame would have been higher.

I voted windows only because you do not have a door vote. You people would die if you knew I paid $1300.00AUD for 2 doors.

Cheers

The poll was rather limited on choices. Of those listed, my trailer frame will cost more than my torsion axle, only after adding in the cost of accessories and two quarts of Rustbullt (not counting cost of tires and wheels). The steel itself will be a little less than the cost of the axle. Of the items not on the poll, the cost of my cushions and 2" memory foam topper will cost nearly as much if not more than the frame. The highest cost will be for the lumber, plywood, and paneling to construct the cabin.

Items costing over $200:
lumber, plywood, paneling
frame (steel, accessories,
axle (Dexter #9 torsion)
cushions & covers
Tires and wheels (three each so I'll have a spare)
