I usually get the stuff packed and get going but after several camp outs I can look at it closer to see what I did not do, or need to improve.

Last time we went to shasta last year it rained and I found much of the stain and seal I had used was water based and did not hold up.

alsong with new addritions I am making some fixings. washing and doing some repainting and staining.

I don't put a lot of effort into washing and primping my TD. That's just asking for rain.

In reality, it does often rain on my way to gatherings, so I just wait till I get to camp, and if the TD is filthy, I'll give it a quick rinse and dry.

Other than that, the day before leaving for the gathering, I do my grocery shopping and packing. Then, in the morning, I load the coolers, hook up the TD to the TV, and hit the road.

The very first thing I do is Let the organizers of the gathering know that I am comming. This sounds basic but it is very important.

Then I make sure I have all the information available about the gathering.

This affects my Packing.

Many organizers make posts like "there will be a Pot luck Dinner Saturday",

"the theme of the gathering will be ________"

"who's bringing what for the Pot Luck dinner"

"Who would be interested in going_______?"

"If anyone has any extra ___________ Please bring them"

I respond to them

At that point I know what cookware I need, what I would need for the theme (if any) what food I will need, if I am going to bring my Kayak, fishing gear, horse shoes etc.

I also know what equiptmen/supplies the organizers may need, an extra EZ up, more tarps, charcoal, firewood, electric cords etc

And by responding I make the organizer..the poor guy who has done a lot of work to make sure I have a good time, I make his/Her job easier so He/She can enjoy the gathering too.

The rest is easy.

A quick wash of the trailer, pack some clothes my food & coffee, get some gas & go.

Happy Trails

Len

I wash mine AFTER I get back from a trip and then garage it. That way it's ready to go when I need it.

At SouthCentral gatherings, certain things are constant.

1. Gary and Trudy will make breakfast on Saturday.

2. There is a Pot Luck with too much food -- mostly proteins -- on Saturday evening.

3. Woody will have a truckload of firewood.

4. BYOB -- and plenty of it. :wine: :beerhat: :guzzle: :cheerswine:

These things just go without saying. It's a SouthCentral thing. 8)
