Toyota Truck

Postby Q » Tue Aug 16, 2005 2:40 pm

I tow mine with a 93 Toyota 2wd 2.4 pickup.

Just got back from a 600 mile trip with the tear from Central Oregon over to the coast and back where I carefully checked the gas mileage. We got 30.2 mpg on the trip which included a lot of mountain driving. Not bad for a 12 year old truck with 206,000 miles on it.

I pull my '63 Trailorboat with my Lowered '78 Chevy Short Fleetside Pickup. The Trailorboat has Skirted Fenders, and the pickup has Fenderskirts. They go good together. The trailer goes with me to car Shows where I set up a Booth to advertise my Automotive Cartoons. The trailer becomes a part of the booth.
Eventually, I will be pulling it with my '56 Chevy Panel Truck. It is a slammed to the ground Hot Rod Truck, that just needs to be finsihed.

I checked the old posts to see if I had posted this pic in this thread, I guess not. I must have posted it on a different one. Looking at the old posts, there seems to be a disproprtionate number of Fords and Toyotas.

Well here it is with the unfinished trailer. Towed with a 4-cyl 2WD Highlander.

Use battery power

Postby gcarroll » Mon Oct 24, 2005 2:23 pm

I outfitted my 2004 Prius with a modified trailer light kit for my teardrop. The gas miles suffer a bit however when under tow...only get 38 mpg...but it beats walking.

I started out with the F250 but we sold it cause we needed more seating room. Now I pull it with the Suburban 17.5 mpg in the mountains is not bad.

We use a Ford Explorer SportTrak. Got about 18 mpg to Sonoma and back this last weekend.

I prefer to pull the tear with my truck but because of different reasons, have
only done it a couple of times.

Have a good day.

When just camping or traveling we will use our Chevrolet Tracker 1.6L 4-Cyl. About 22 MPG with trailer 24 MPG without. If it is Classic Show and the weather is nice, my 56 F-100 is cool! Hot Rod 223-Inline-6 4-BBL Dual Exhaust, High Compression, .486 lift cam. 3-Speed W/ OD Close to 20 MPG. We will have to put a hitch on my wife's 1964 1/2 Mustang Race Preped 289, auto, factory air & center console. Milage... Well it runs great!
