I am getting ready to order door hinges, and think I want to use stainless steel, but aluminum is much cheaper. What did you use, and are you happy with it?

Just a personal opinion. I think you'd be happier with the stainless steel over the long haul. Save a buck or two on your interior lighting and spend it on hinges if you have to.

I used a standard Brass 4" butt hinge. I thought that it would look a little more "late 40's". I had seen these used on an origional "Cabin Car" and the trailer I was building was very similar (only smaller).

I've had my hinges from Grant laying around for a long time. I finally mounted my doors recently. Thanks to those offset hinges, installing the doors was a snap. The only alignment I had to worry about was vertical. After they were installed, I was able to see how much to trim the latch side.
