So, how do you roll? (not talkin' tires here folks!)

Postby rmclarke » Mon Dec 03, 2012 8:51 pm

With all the earth-shattering problems we are facing today, this might not seem important....ok, it's not, but I want to know. So, I'll get right to the point here:

When my wife replaces toilet paper, she always puts it on the roll so that it dispenses from underneath. I, personally, prefer it rolling off the top. And, I also know of several other females in my family who roll it under ...um...don't ask me how I know this,(or even why I know this) I just do........

Now, my theory is that guys like it rolled over and gals under... :) ...so, just for fun, vote one more time this year, this time for something really important... :R

Boy I read all kinds of stuff into that but I refuse to be offended and I'm going to vote 'roll it over -guy' just to see how the voting is going. I really have no idea of what you’re talking about. :)

Years ago, I remember reading a survey on this and a query to the toilet paper companies. The end result was that is wouldn't normally matter except that toilet paper companies put the design on the top sheet, expecting people to roll it over. Remember when there used to be colored and color-printed toilet paper? If you rolled it over, it looked better because the white backing didn't show up as badly.

Another thing to consider is that, if you roll it under and have an indented holder, it's harder to get at the roll's end paper, especially if someone pulls it off and leaves the roll's end sheet against the back. It just makes sense to roll it forward, not backwards.

 Want to have fun with somebody who puts it on, rolling under? When you use it, take a piece of scotch tape or other sticky substance with you; and, after you're done using it, rig the roll so that the end of the roll is in the back, stuck to the wall or cabinet behind the roll. ...Eh Eh!

My pet peeve is when you use a public restroom and the roll only allows you one serrated sheet square of thin paper per pull. Arggggh! :x

There's two bathrooms in my house and I have one example of each. Apparently I don't pay any attention.

I'm with Droid, I worked at a hotel for a period and that's when I started paying attention. Until then I didn't realize why I was annoyed by having to put effort into finding the end of the roll. :x

I feel like I'm the only one at my current place of business that rolls over; I am also the only guy most of the time, so you could have a point with the gender difference here...

Over all the time, this is an hygiene issue, if it is against the wall (under) dirty hands may leave baterias on the wall for someone else to be infected with. Never assume those hands preceding you are clean, specially in public toilets.

My toilet paper dispenser is a piece of 1" oak dowel that stands vertically so there's no "over the top / under the bottom" There is however "clockwise / counterclockwise" and my preference is counterclockwise 8)

I'd have to agree with you I did it at my Mom's house (as a joke) and now she does it all the time in the guest bathroom
A for the crumpling VS folding I'm so confused I think I might just have to get a bidet
