I do not remember this poll. What type of side tent or dressing tent do you use?
Did you buy one from wallyworld or did you build it yourself? Lets hear your good and bad experiences.

What do you think?

I bought a tent on Amazon, works on SUV's, it is in my pics below. This one was cheap, easy for me to put up and roomy.
I am sure this was asked before but I don't mind when questions get re asked

Built my vestibule myself from a frame made from 1/2" EMT conduit (thanks Gordon Burwel), and Harbor Freight tarps. I intend someday to replace the tarps with sewn awning material, but haven't yet.

The big blue tarp is supported at the open end by a couple of REI Tarp Poles.

I built the dressing room support tubes in to the roof. Just pull out and hang a couple shower curtains up.

Are the tubes inside waterproof? My front curve wouldn't let me do it that way, and my roof height isn't tall enough. if I had a roof rack it would work as a pull out, but the rings would have to be shallower as the tubes would hit each other when pushed in. I could make it with four tubes to slide into...

There is 4 tubes 2 for each side. The tubes are between the roof skin and the ceiling skin. Yes, the tubes are sealed on the inside.

I just posted a video in the General Topics section on the side tent my wife and I modified.

We started with a Lightspeed Privacy tent and modified it so that we could attach it to the side of our teardrop.

I love this....I was concerned with ease of setup but that tent is as easy as an umbrella! How does it stand up in the rain? I've had a couple collapse when rain starts to pool in the roof....

I think I would look at using the clips/hooks that campinn uses for their side tent, which we have. But it's probably on its last season...as opposed to suction cups. I've tried using the same cups and the adhesion was just not reliable enough.

Last weekend was our first trip out since making it so no data on rain.

It did hold up in the fairly breezy mornings we had out there. I am still thinking about how to make a rainfly for it as the tent is only water resistant, not water proof. The roof is fairly taught so I don't expect any water pooling on it.

Also, since it was originally designed as a shower tent, the roof is designed to support a 5 gallon solar shower bag so even if there were pooling, it should support a fair amount of weight.

However, Lightspeed does not offer a rainfly at this time so I really need to figure that one out on my own.

Looks like we have two threads on this... The problem isn't weight inside..it's weight outside...does rain pool and stretch the roof. The price isn't bad here, may try it anyway and see if I can customize a solution.

This looks good.

I see you are not extending the leg by the fender...it looked like you were resting the foot on the fender. Are the leg lengths that adjustable, or, did you have to trim?

Besides water on the roof....level ground has been the second Achilles heel of every side tent I've looked at...

I'm looking at getting a bag awning like this but with solid walls.
Realy need decent shade here in aus and you can install the walls or just use the awning
