Gage,
One reason for this, is to give Grant a good number to compare his poll against...

I'm here a lot more than I should be. Just don't have alot to say. Since I had my teardrop built (a Camp-Inn), most of the conversations don't apply to me. (But I read them anyway!)

See, that trick question had me so disconbombulated that I got Mike and Dean all mixed up. :?

They shouldn't burden us old geezers with having to make such important decisions as that. :fb

Good morning Dean,

Do we have any PHP folks in the house? It should be relatively easy to write a script that would count the members who have posted within a specific time period. That would give an accurate count. I recently bought a PHP book but haven't had time to spend learning the language.

I've been a moderator on a couple of large lists and I don't think we ever had more than about 15 to 20 percent of the members who were active. Most folks just sit back and read. I have actively encouraged the lurkers to post but that never had much effect. On occasion I have send private e-mails to them asking why they didn't post. (Ok, I'm nosey) The responses tended to fall into the categories of: "I'm too shy to post", "I don't have anything to contribute", and "The people who post seem to be a clique".

I've come to believe that it's just the way people are. Some enjoy taking part in the interaction and others are content to read.

Oh well, I'm done pontificating.

I look over all of the postings at least 4 times per day and only respond to the ones in which I can and want to give my opinion or advice.
Time is starting to fly by faster, the older I get :x so I have to limit my time on posting  pick and choose......if you know what I mean

Joanne.
Top 'O the morning to you as well...
Nick seems to be our code guy, but hasn't been around much.

Dale,
PHP requires at least two questions to do a poll...
Since I don't know code, this was my solution to get the info I was after...
I'm trying to help Grant with his poll on the family sized teardrop.
