3" foam cut into 4 sections. Jean made the covers. Its in 4 sections so it we can use it as a couch. She made the quilt too.

Haven't slept in the Jewel Box yet, but a couple years ago the neighbors offered the 6' about 6" thick foam cushion from their travel trailer. It's "hinged" down the middle lengthwise and half is vinyl, half fabric. It's been mighty comfy for the kids friends on overnighters.

I may have to take the covers off and do a little trimming to have it fit in the teardrop cabin. But saved $$

I got a teardrop so my comfort level would be way up there while camping. While my Camp-Inn came with a mattress that was fine, I wanted to be really comfortable when I crawled in at night. So I added 4 inch memory foam on top, with flannel sheets, and a homemade quilt. Turn the air conditioner on, and wow......comfort while camping! Just call me spoiled!

Im all about money saved! Good job Jewel. Im planning on picking up a fancy type of Futon mattress in the morning. I also will have to cut it abit to get a good fit but hey ITS FREE!!!! If any one is looking for cheap-free stuff like that go to one of my fave sites. www.craigslist.com Click on your state and city and search under free or all wanted/for sale items. LOTS AND LOTS of futon stuff for free- $20 in the LA area. If your city isnt very big you may not find as much stuff, but you never know. This is not my first crazy great deal off of craigs list. Thats also how i got my trailer for $100. Go check it out. :D

bed mattress

Postby moreforles » Fri Nov 21, 2008 12:37 am

the Yellowstone, Cavalier has a nearly full sized mattress in the rear, fold down dinette with seat back and seat cushions for bedding along with bunk over cab...

the bed in back is not much more comfortable than sleeping on the ground, if we happen to keep the RV, the mattress is being replaced.

picked up a thick sleeping bag for next camping trip and a foam mat from an old pop up I scrapped (got it for free, but canvas was completely rotten and floor rotted out) also a fold down bed from RV along with its 4" thick foam mat, the fold down bed is from a 90's Alegra and over 7' long, it will need to be cut down to fit behind the drivers seat of the astro van and should be wide enough for two, to fit on fairly comfortably.... lots of room for just one though.
