I am looking for an opinion of the majority of the people here. Which is the better Harbor Freight trailer to build on?

I'm thinking about things like safety, durability, bearing life, and yes, even aesthetics.

So please vote up there, above this message!!! :wink:

voted for the 1800# but if someone was building an ultralight or weregoing to use the tear on a limited short trip basis then the 1100#er might be fine,,also them tiny tiny wheels,,,,looks also,,

1,800 also. I want the bigger wheels. Also, if I were to load the trailer, could get close to max (on the smaller size), and don't want that....

I can't vote on either this time.

I used the 1800 lb on the mini-hopper but I don't like the chassis showing.

I'd use a trailer like on the old Benroy's and flip the 1/4 angle iron over so I could attach the side to the chassis. Something to be said for how the old folks did it.

P. S. In other words. Use Mike's design on a chassis and bolt the angle iron together. Would be eaiser and cheaper.

I'm definitely seeing a trend here, with the users here favoring the 1800# trailer.

If the 1175# trailer had 12" wheels like the 1800# one, would you change your vote?

One thing that can be done is to buy the lighter frame and change out the hubs to 5 bolt hubs,,,northern tool or farm supply sells replacements for a few bucks,,the new hubs cost might be more cost effective than buying the heavier frame just for the larger tires,,????

Too bad the 1800# doesn't have the better coupler on it like the other one.

The 1175# with the 8" wheels from a New Menber

I used the HEAVY DUTY 1175 LB. CAPACITY 4 FT. x 8 FT. FOLDABLE
UTILITY TRAILER. With slight modifications on the side rails for proper rigidity making it "unfoldable".

It comes with 12 inch tires 4 lugs. I did "slam" the axle to lower the body. Works great, painted it black.

I used that one as well. I modified the frame so that it no longer folder though.
Started many, finished none... Bought a TTT <Sigh> ;)
