Someone posted on here a while ago that there were some threads explaining why we cannot use hdpe for siding . Can someone point me to those threads?

I can't but would suggest an Advanced Google search.

But the stuff moves a lot during heat expansion/contraction. People around here used to bolt it to drift boat bottoms for rock abrasion but it moved so much they quit.

The problem is mainly that sealants and adhesives don't stick to it.

If you can figure out how to weld it, especially friction welding then maybe.

There are companies that specialize in working with it, fabbing custom water tanks for example, but that's professional material science territory - DIYers usually find it very frustrating.
