Paint and canvas questions

I'm replacing the roof on my TD. I've decided to go with the paint/fabric method. I have a couple of detail questions though? Does the hurricane hinge go on before the fabric or after? It looks to me like the fabric and the first coat or two of paint should go down, then the hinge with a sealer ( putty or silicone) would then go over the top of the fabric/paint. Or should the hinge go on, and then get covered?

I finished my canvas and paint, then installed the hinge with putty tape. no problems yet, and it's been 3-1/2 years.

Thanks, that is what I was thinking.
Fwiw, the gorrila glue under the hinge can right off with a little prying.

That's what I was thinking. Am in the stages now and trying to figure out some stuff.
