I used an enamel primer/sealer. It takes a few coats to make sure it absorbs into the plywood. Now I can use a regular enamel house paint on it

I used oil based paint, primer and top coat. My thoughts were, it's water proof and that is how wood boats are painted. Now that a couple of years have gone by I might repaint with water based exterior paint.

You might have trouble getting the latex paint to stick to the previous oil-based paint. My house was painted first with an oil-base paint, then some years later with latex exterior enamel. The latex paint did not bond to the previous paint at all. All but falls off the walls.

I think I would test using a primer over the current paint before painting w/ latex to see if that solves the problem.
