I generally on road trips and camping do not like to be near or even a half on a tow vehicles capacity. This is why I like tear drops farming and ranching and short distances is the only thing I will tow over weight or at max legal range. For cows or hay I love dual rear wheels and the one ton or the two ton trucks I own. For camping a mid size suv works for me but I am falling in.love with desire power and a 3 quarter ton truck this year for camping I like 17 18 mph pulling a teardrop on Desi and going 75 up hills in the mouthing and having the power to pull a long fifth wheel rv if I want to but thinking on keeping my little suv for camping so my dodge is free to haul cows or hay.
Plans. there was supposed to be plans to be followed when I built this thing. Opps! AH, gee, tum,tee tum. I think I forgot about the plans 2 years ago. ------Tow vehicles, 1995 ford explore, 1994 ford ranger, 1993 ford F-150, 2009 4x9 Off road teardrop, on harbor freight greatly modified frame.

I'm using a 2007 Nissan Frontier with a 4 cylinder engine & 5 speed manual transmission. The factory recommended specs are:

Truck weight 3,675# (Leer camper shell add 175#, total of 3,850# as it sits now)
Gross trailer weight 3,500#
Tongue weight max 350#
Combined gross weight 7,936#
Maximum frontal area 60 square feet

Engine is 152 hp @ 5200 rpm, 171 ft. # @ 4,400 rpm, currently around town mileage is 22-23 in the winter, 20 summer (AC running all the time)

The time you spend planning is more important than the time you spend building.........

2011 Subaru Outback 2.5 cvt.
towing without trailer brakes 1,000lbs
with trailer brakes 2,700lbs
max tongue weight 200lbs
If I could shut my brain off, I could save myself alot of time, money and effort.
