Here's another picture of it showing that it is a little more finished. Which goes to show you that you don't have to have a finished teardrop to use and enjoy it.

Have a good day,

Does anyone have any info on the trailer in the background of the above photo in the previos post. It looks similar to Duane 4 X 4 but longer?

Randy

Thanks Mike I appreciate the info. I am very new to teardrops and trying to let it all soak in, before I build my own.

Lots of information here... or if you can't find it, don't be afraid to ask!

Mike...

P.S. So you're thinking about a Benroy? Have you seen my Benroy building archive? Two of them actually...

The Benroy is great when you want to maximize space and keep a nice look.
I have decided on more of the cabin car look because I really love the shape, but my second choice (or possibly my second trailer) will be a benroy style.

Thanks Guys

I like the them all!!. I checked out George's site and did not find any links to his trailer specifically. But did just finish going through the photos of Gages project. Which is awesome. I had been thinking about fenders and the need for some larger ones in a larger design. In another post in this forum, I saw where you had cut a side profile. It too, to me looked like a cabin car/modernistic. It is so hard to judge scale when looking at just a side profile that has no other reference points.

I have drawn a few profiles of my own and just doing it freehand, they came out very much like the modernistic.

I have to reinstall an old CAD program (Design CAD) that I have worked in after I get the software from a friend of mine. Then I can sit down, trace out some profiles and start getting a little more serious.

In looking at photos of people's trailers, I can tell that there is alot more to it than meets the eye. I am new to all of this but am thinking there are numerous factors to consider in creating a design than will yeild the desired finished results.

Unless my eyes are playing tricks, I think Georges Benroy is longer than Duanes.

My very first idea was a 12ft - 13ft design. With a rear bed and a slide out Galley in the front. I also would like a wide (kingsize bed) trailer.
However I am now not wanting to go long than 10ft. And having anxiety over making it narrower (queen bed).

After seeing this reference on this forum

http://www.campomatic.com.au/kitchen.html

I think the galley can be done in the front of the trailer, which is what was appelaing about Georges trailer. There seems to be a greater distance from the door to the front of the trailer.

I was initially thinking I would need steel framing for the walls and may still need them in order do a slide out front galley design. But would like to avoid this if possible.

I am concerned about lateral strength in the rear, since the rear galley provides structural integrity.

Lastly after seeing this link in another thread in this forum.

http://www.joeybed.com/model.htm

I am thinking really sick thoughts and that is putting the bed on a Joeybed frame and sliding it out the back of the trailer. This might allow me to plumb in toilet in the front or porta poti. So the Ken-Skill rear design is attractive.

Finally, I would like the design to have a very vintage appearance.

I did a post asking about Drop Axles vs Torsion axles in another forum, anythoughts?

Randy

I was looking for a way to contact
George Thornton
one of his trailers came up for the "random peeks" in the top left corner and I went to go there and the link is broken.
George Thornton's Lost Te..
http://pages.prodigy.net/rfs2growup/mystery05.htm

no mentions of him for several years (I did a search from the member's page on his name.
George Thornton) last mention of his name was in 2009 in a forum. can we patch to something current for him?
If departed can we make a "remembrance page" with his works?
