I think its great that your son is taking an interest, and that you're taking the time to allow him to be a part of the build!

I did the same with my son a few years back, and when finished, we took themaiden voyage together.

Quite memorable for us both.

Your floor looks good, while not intending to be critical, the "double" wheel well created by leaving the steel fender would leave me with concerns about dirt/moisture being trapped in that area?
You probably have it all worked out, just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks Rob. Smaller version of the cabin car of course!
About 10' long 4' tall 6' wide.
I had put the fenders on when I was building the wheel wells. I was not sure what the travel of the wheels would be on the suspension, so I put the fenders on seeing as they mounted to the frame this would give me an idea how tall to make the box. I hadn't thought about the dirt issue though. I was thinking they might keep more out than in! So I left em on. What do I know?
I have been refering to your version of the cabin car regularly for ideas and inspiration. Well done Hope mine looks 1/2 as good as yours! No bathroom or tub for us though! Maybe next time!

It is a start!
My youngest is 6. He came home from school today and saw the walls up. He smiles and yells "WWWWWWOOOOOOWWWWW!" That is what it is about!

Memories are grand!

When we took the trip, my son had just gotten his license.
He posed for this picture, but only drove around the campgrounds a couple times in the 1500 miles.

Today, at 19, he has owned several cars, drives heavy equip. for his dad, and takes his girl out in the old car... Sure glad I got that trip in when I did.

My youngest is 12, dad is planning on a special trip with her very soon.

The more you build, the more I want to build. My next one! Great to hear your sons interest. It is a great feeling well the kids get more involved. I'm finding out all of my sons great ideas that he thinks of.It's good for a growing minds.

My son and I took a couple trips to Oshkosh WI to the annual airshow. The first trip it rained all week and we didn't even go to the airfield. We had a blast checking out all the other things to see. I can't watch a Packers game without thinking fondly of our visit to the Packers museum in Geen Bay. The second trip we stayed at the college dorm in Ripon WI and had a blast. My avatar is a picture he took of me on that trip. He's 20 now and has said he wants to go next year to Pamplin Grove. I already need a bigger trailer and I'm not even done yet.

Amazing the fond memories that come from what we would normally call adversity.

I/we should feel very fortunate that our children have chosen to share themselves with us...drugs, rebellion, and other causes leave many parents confused and heartbroken.

No hijacking going on here, this is real life, proud parents talking about their kids, and teardrop times, past or yet to be.
