Has anyone ever stayed here and is it a good park to be by the water? Is there other places anyone could suggest near the Gulf to camp at? Not planning the immediate trip but will head that way for a campout eventually. Thanks in advance.

This is a great state park. Stayed there a couple of years ago, right after I moved to Pensacola. Don't camp there now because I live here. The park is on the intercoastal waterway, but the campground itself is not on the water. It is about a 5 min. drive to the Gulf and the national seashore. There are a variety of activities to do in the area also. The National Naval Aviation Museum is on board NAS Pensacola and a must see when in the area. There is also camping in little farther east at Pensacola Beach on the national seashore at Fort Pickens. Again, there is no actual camping on the beach. That campground is not nearly as nice as Big Lagoon.
