Blue Coleman Kerosene is an AGM, model unknown...

Postby Dean in Ct. » Sat Mar 30, 2013 1:09 pm

Can someone help me with a blue Coleman?
This is available in my neck of the woods, but I'm not sure what it is. I'm new to the addiction but have it pretty bad. Is this really a kerosene lamp? Also did someone start removing the paint on the font and then stop? Tell me what you think it is. I'm kinda inclined to make an offer on it but would like some input!

Thanks!

For $20.00 I'd be grabbing that real fast.
Yes there are kerosene lanterns. I don't have any, yet.
A good Coleman collector forum to start going to for any help you will ever need is

That is a cool old lantern, I am not sure its a Coleman. The glass is modern replacement glass. If it works and you love it its worth $20 bucks.

Turns out I bought it and it is an American Gas Machine Co, (AGM) Ready Lite and not kero.

I think it is at least a little unusual as I have not been able to find a picture of it yet. It has no collar below the glass and has a built in flint striker. Also the control knob goes into the fount and I am lead to believe this is some type of carbureator.

Finish is plated steel in somewhat tough shape and chipped blue enamel. All in all I'm happy with my $20 investment and hope to bring her back with youall's help!

Anyone familiar with these?

Most of the hoarders on here have them. They are good lanterns. I dont like them because its not so easy to get parts. Be careful I have heard that the founts can have stress cracks. Just load with fuel and see if it leaks. It it leaks dont try to fix it.
