They say that all lanterns have their own personality...that is especially true on a military, or at least that's what I've found. Doug

Get the globe and vent on it so it will direct it heat to the generator and it should settle down.

Just now.
First fire up after painting the cage and air tubes. I put the globe and vent on soon as she fires up.
She runs good, steady and strong. :D
I did have to take the new generator off and poke it with the included tool.

Mine is a 1952 Coleman. Which lanterns had the quadrant glass?

I don't know, mine's a "52" also.
I don't want to repaint the fount. I don't want to loose the H/5. What ever it means.

For the cage on a military...I got some rattle can spray from a company called Aervoe. It's a flat camo paint, not high temp, but it's held up fine on the cages on my military ones and it's been through a ton of heat/cool cycles. Gives it that nice OD appearance. It's a flat paint, but you can rub it with a rag and it will go a semi gloss once cured. FWIW. Doug

This is the fuel cap that came with mine.

I cleaned up the funnel and painted it with hi-heat silver than hi-heat clear and baked it in the oven.

are the 252's affected by the wind ?
mine is fine on the table , but when i hang it on the deck and there is wind gusts over 15mph it flickers and dims .
move it out of the wind and it brightens up .
anyone else have the same occur ?
not to be confused with alexk from california

Being a apartment dweller where if it isn't bolted down it disappears, none of my lanterns have been out much.
but ya got me wondering.
Maybe next camping trip to the ocean I'll have to take them all and light them up to see.
