My 40 day build of Daddy's Dog House on Wheels

Postby tim_hart » Sat May 25, 2013 1:09 pm

I started 40 days ago to build what I had in my mind for a while. I was given a 6.5x8 snowmobile trailer that had landed here in Texas and away I went. Every weekend and each afternoon until done. It has a closet and inside desk for the flat screen TV and sound system. I stream my iPhone to the TV to watch movies wherever I am that has a signal. Large fridge and ac. Lights with 2 plugs each and holds a double bed 54x75 long ways. It sleeps two comfortably. I opted for a quick outside kitchen via a tool box and use the L shape area to hold my outdoor carpet for in front of the door. The following is a pic of the build.

Nice little build. I like the desk.

How does it tow with most of the weight up front and the wheels centered.

Another question. Is that one of the door of Ebay, the guy sells with a window. I was thinking one of
those Is it solidly made?

It tows great I put the weight forward on purpose. The door and windows came from a wrecking yard near here in Abilene. The door is off a bunk house of a larger rv. Great buy door=$20.00 and the windows $10.00 each.

Hi Tim/tim hart,

Welcome to the forum ! That's a great build you've done there !

It shows there are many valid approaches to the TD/TTT. The
snowmobile trailer's extra width allowing you to place the sleeping
crosswise helps keep the length shorter.

I like the larger sized door too, and repurposing the toolbox into
the galley box is a great idea as well.

Cheers,
Norm/mezmo

It does have a lot of room. The 6.5x8 trailer made a huge difference and making the kitchen outside in a tool box made even more. Added a cheap tailgate grill and mounted the stand for a single bottle burner. Stored coffee pot, extra propane bottles, and spices with cooking utensils. Added loops for bungees to hold folding chairs. The other side will hold my outdoor door mat. Added a towel rack since I don't like hanging clothes lines if I don't have too and a lantern hook.

I love your galley! What an original idea

Man I wish I has more than 80 inches between my house and my neighbors fence.
I would love to go 6 wide.

Let us know how the first camping trip turns out.
